Bio

Despite their ages, Walkers Line vocalist-guitarist Andre Palmieri, 22, and guitarist Pat Leyland, 24, have already experienced many of the things that most musicians dream about. In their former alt-rock band left Pencey, the two helped the group develop over a number of years from rehearsing in a small town basement to showcasing in Toronto, New York, and Los Angeles for top members of the music industry. Particularly noted for their live performances and on-stage chemistry, Andre and Pat created and defined a key element of left Pencey's sound - a dual-guitar attack that ranged from expressing powerful emotional angst to melodic solemnity, often within the same song. Perhaps the most important role they played was that of songwriter, as their material helped the band land a major label recording contract with Arista records in 2001. However, after spending the summer of 2002 in Malibu and Hollywood working on their debut album with producer Brad Wood (Sunny Day Real Estate, Liz Phair, Smashing Pumpkins, Pete Yorn), left Pencey broke up. While this event was a disappointment to many involved, a "silver lining" soon became evident as Walkers Line came together, incorporating the obvious lessons learned with the added drive that comes from desires so nearly fulfilled.

As quickly as left Pencey dissolved, Walkers Line formed, rapidly generating a large catalogue of songs from their hometown of Burlington, Ontario. Drummer Miles Gibson, 22, brought his talents behind the kit and in the studio (as a certified audio engineer) to the group, applying skills developed as a composer of hip-hop beats and instrumentals to enhance a group dynamic already paying strict attention to craftsmanship. Providing the foundation for the music with Miles is bassist Chris Keelan, 24, a well-rounded musician, and self-professed "gear-head", who aptly bridges the many rhythms and melodies found in the material. Drawing on influences such as Coldplay, Smashing Pumpkins, Third Eye Blind, Deftones, and Oasis, Walkers Line create an attractive soundscape full of memorable hooks and airs, which are amplified by solid songwriting.

Though most of their time since inception has been spent writing and rehearsing, the members of Walkers Line are no strangers to the stage. The group's combined experience includes national tours with Wide Mouth Mason and Big Wreck, opening dates with Puddle of Mudd, Matthew Good, Bif Naked, Treble Charger, I Mother Earth, The Tea Party, Moist, and Collective Soul, and literally dozens of industry showcases. As a new audience is exposed to the band's music, with its blend of lyrical romanticism and melancholy over a musical backdrop that can echo Andre's vocal conviction, it is only a matter of time before Walkers Line pick up where so many other bands have faltered, and bring their collective dreams to fruition.
