Lyrics

Hot Weather

Written By: Walt Pilcher

Verse 1
Hot weather's here and school is out.
What're we gonna do when were out 'n' about?
Don't want to Twitter my time away.
Text my circle, see what they say.

Verse 2
Ought-a get a job to help make ends meet;
Get enough gas to keep my car on the street.
But flippin' Big Macs in a hot fry pan?
Forget about that, I got a better plan.

Chorus
Run to the river and jump right in.
Goin' skinny dippin' with all my friends.
Girls might see us, but that's all right.
Theyll run away 'cause it'll give em a fright.

(Instrumental verse break)

Bridge
No gas in my car,
But Im gonna go far,
'Cause I'm practicing hard
On my Wii gui-tar-r-r-r

Verse 3
Now fall's comin' on, the nights are cold,
But we're still hangin out at the swimmin' hole.
Wasted all summer, but I'm all set:
Never once did I get my i-Pod wet!

Chorus

(Repeat last 2 lines & out)

Simple Words

Written By: Walt Pilcher

Verse 1
I bring a song about our love
In hope that you will see
In some small way the measure of
How much you mean to me,
In some small way the measure of
How much you mean to me.

Verse 2
You were for me and I for you
Before the world began.
Yet still it seems a miracle
That you would take my hand.
Yes, still it seems a miracle
That you would take my hand.

Chorus
Your beauty takes my breath away;
The grace of angels ‘round you.
They play our song for us each day,
With simple words: I love you.

Verse 3
We spoke our vows and stood our ground
With just our Lord between,
A three-fold cord in Heaven bound,
His Spirit here to lead,
A three-fold cord in Heaven bound,
His Spirit here to lead.

Verse 4
I thank you for this life we’ve made,
Your joy that makes it seem
Our lemons turn to lemonade,
And rocky roads ice cream.
Our lemons turn to lemonade,
And rocky roads ice cream.

(Chorus)

Coda
When life gives pause for fear and doubt
And worry enters in…
There’s just one thing you need to know,
In simple words: I love you.
There’s just one thing you need to know,
In simple words: I love you.

What on Earth

Written By: Walt Pilcher

Verse
Today the darkness lifted off and I discovered who I am,
When I saw how much He values me and trusts my faith in Him.
Religion hid the truth from me and taught me fear of man,
But Heaven's Love has broken through: with Jesus here I stand!
(Repeat)

So...

Chorus
What on earth have I to fear,
Now I know my Savior?
Guardian angels bending near,
I'm blessed and highly favored.

Rest and peace renew my strength
To feel the joy of living,
To run, to fly on eagle's wings
And share what I've been given.

Bridge
Calling things that are not
Just as though they are,
And living from Eternity
To here and now.

(Instrumental verse break)

(Chorus, then Bridge and out))

Honey from the Rock (Ps. 81)

Written By: Walt Pilcher

Charge
Sing for joy to God our strength;
Shout aloud to the God of Jacob!

Start the music, hear the drumbeat,
Lend your voice to a mighty choir.

Sound the ram’s horn and the trumpet,
Join in the festive celebration;

Heed the call we hear from Heaven:
Give to the Lord His heart’s desire!

(Repeat)

Verse 1
We called His name, He came and saved us,
Answering from a thundercloud,
Lifting the burden from our shoulders,
Setting our hands free from our toil.

Chorus
I am the Lord your God,
I brought you up from Egypt.
I am the Lord your God,
Honey from the rock I’ll feed you

Verse 2
O, my beloved, let me warn you,
If you would only hear my word:
Suffer no other gods among you,
And you’ll escape the captors’ sword.

Chorus
I am the Lord your God,
I brought you up from Egypt.
I am the Lord your God,
Honey from the rock I’ll feed you,
Honey from the rock I’ll feed you.

Charge
Sing for joy to God our strength;
Shout aloud to the God of Jacob!

Start the music, hear the drumbeat,
Lend your voice to a mighty choir.

Sound the ram’s horn and the trumpet,
Join in the festive celebration;

Heed the call we hear from Heaven:
Give to the Lord His heart’s desire!

Final Chorus
I am the Lord your God,
I brought you up from Egypt.

Living a life that will have no end!
Living a life that will have no end!

The Ballad of Old John Smith

Written By: Walt Pilcher

Verse 1
All the records were lost in the Flood ‘O Forty-
Seven, so
He’ll never know now on this side of Heaven,
Honest and true the real name he was given, the
Man they just call Old John Smith.

Verse 2
Well, he can’t hold a job ‘cause he ain’t got a
ref’rence, no
Documents, Green Card, ID, or a license.
Bosses these days got a definite pref’rence for
Workers that ain’t called John Smith.

Chorus
Singin’, Who are you? Who are you?
Everyone thinks that your name is just a myth,
And you’re fooling nobody but you,
Old John Smith.

Verse 3
Though the criminal background checks all come up empty, yet
Still he’s a man who just can’t get no symp’thy:
“Get out of town or you’ll stay here quite lengthy,
‘Cause we’ll lock you up, Old John Smith.”

Verse 4
Now when he says his name everybody starts groaning. The obvious alias they’re not condoning.
Such a lame name that he should be disowning, to
Pick one that’s not “Old John Smith.”

Chorus

Verse 5
Oh, he must have had parents before the disaster, and
Maybe they’re Murphy, O’Shea or Lancaster.
Poor John will die with no kin or ancestor, the
Man they just call Old John Smith.

Chorus (x 2) “Tell me, who…”

Coda
Fare thee well, Old John Smith,
Fare thee well and gone.
Fare thee well, Old John Smith.
Take your name along.
Fare thee well, Old John Smith,
Johnny, we hardly knew ye.

Poor little Johnny boy, …
Didn’t know who you were.

Praise to the Heavens!
Praise to the Heavens!
Praise to our God who is worthy to be praised!

Praise to the Heavens, praise!

Praise to the Heavens!
Praise to the Heavens!
Praise to our God above who’s worthy of our praise!

Praise Him ye Heavenly Host and creatures great and small!
Praise Him on high! Praise here below!
Praise to our God and King, our Savior All in All!

(Chorus)

God is in His holy place,
Jesus with amazing grace.

The County Library

Written By: Walt Pilcher

Chorus
Solo:
I found a place you’ve gotta see’
Down in the valley ‘bout a mile from me.
It’s called the County Libraree,
And you can take home books for free!
All:
It’s called the County Libraree,
And you can take home books for free!

Verses
There’s magazines and books galore
In the shelves and on the floor.
There’s comfy chairs and a whole lot more,
And you can smoke outside the door.
There’s books on tape and on CD
Down at the County Libraree.

The ladies there are very nice,
But you better be quieter than mice.
They’ll “shush” you quick, but only twice,
Then throw you out like you got lice.
So don’t annoy the powers that be,
Down at the County Libraree.

Check out all those books for free,
But you gotta bring ‘em back, you see.
Forgot one time so I stood in line;
But all they said was, “That’s a fine!”
If it’s fine with them then it’s fine with me,
Down at the County Libraree.

(Chorus)

Verses
Browse the Internet; there’s no fee.
Look for a job or buy a TV.
There’s no telling what you’ll see.
The racy sites are blocked (whew-ee);
It’s safe for the kids and the family,
Down at the County Libraree.

Out back they’ve got a Book-Mobile.
It used to be a real big deal.
They say it lost its curb appeal,
And I think it is just unreal:
There’s books with wheels, well glory be,
Down at the County Libraree.

They hired a man with a funny name;
If they lose a book, he gets the blame.
Like to meet him, but he’s never there.
Ol’ Dewey Decimal just don’t care!
That does not seem right to me,
Down at the County Libraree.

(Chorus)

Can’t use my cell phone, that’s no go.
Disturbs the other folks, you know.
So leave a message at the beep and
Here’s a promise I might keep:
Call you soon as I am free
When I get back from the Libraree.

Bridge
Well there’s Borders, and Walden, and Amazon,
Barnes, and Noble, and Books dot com,
Target, and Wal-Mart, and even eBay.
Only thing is… (wait for it)… You gotta pay!
Don’t need a literary shopping spree
When I can get my books for free,
Down at the County Libraree.
Down at the County Libraree.

More Verses
Starbucks has its points I guess,
But it’s sure not cheap, and it’s not the best.
Hot water from the Men’s Room, free,
Makes my coffee, instantly.
And, well, that’s good enough for me,
Down at the County Libraree.

Learn new words, impress your friends.
They’ll think you’ve been to school again.
So flaunt your tax-paid education,
Spelling and pro-noun-ce-a-tion,
Like you got a P. H. Dee,
Down at the County Libraree.

Someday I’ll quit this mortal zoo;
Check out before I’m overdue.
Don’t bury me in death’s embrace… (pause),
Just put a bookmark in my place,
Down at the County Libraree.
Down at the County Libraree.
