"Premiere: Wam Dingis, ‘James’"

Orange County’s Wam Dingis is an idea that took more than a decade to come to fruition. Jordan Avila and Darren Cochran first got together as eighth-graders at a summer camp open mic and kept the flame burning until, eventually, bassist Angela Vasquez joined up as bassist and Mindy Dymin came on board as violinist-keyboardist. The quartet blissfully, frenetically darts between psychedelic, garage and surf rock, and this week they release their debut album “It’s Not That Hard.” The album includes some assists from friends — members of HOTT MT, Goon and Bogan Via — and, in case of the new single “James,” friends of friends. “James” features Jeff Schroeder, the Smashing Pumpkins’ guitarist and an O.C. native himself, doing a little shredding. Schroeder knows some people close to Wam Dingis and to Paul Doyle (of Midnight Faces), who produced the album. He was sent the song and recorded his part at home. “James” has the garage-y post-punk vibe of guys who wear black leather jackets, but maybe that’s what Wam Dingis jams at their pool parties? - Buzzbands

"Video Premiere: “Pineapple Rain” by Wam Dingis"

Wam Dingis L to R: Jordan Avila, Angela Vasquez, Mindy Dymin and Darren Cochran.

Wam Dingis has built a reputation around being one of the most eccentric live bands in the LA club circuit today. Their shows often feature art components that sometimes reference David Lynch's Twin Peaks, and playful props like pinatas, confetti and more.

So, it comes as no surprise that their debut album, It's Not That Hard, (produced by Paul Doyle of Midnight Faces) is as fun, playful, and energetic as their live shows. The album features Ashi Dala & Spooki Tavi of HOTT MT, Goon, Bogan Via, and Jeff Schroeder (previous guitarist for Lassie Foundation and current guitarist for The Smashing Pumpkins).

Ahead of Its Not That Hard's official release, Wam Dingis share the music video for "Pineapple Rain" directed by Whitney Ellis. - Culture Collide

Wam Dingis is a groovy band with origins from an eighth grade summer camp open mic in Orange County. Their debut album, It’s Not That Hard, drops on September 10th and was produced by Paul Doyle of Midnight Faces. Here’s its latest leaked single, “Heaven First,” (featuring Goon) which is a jangly, garage-pop psychwave blessed by the harmonies of The WD Choir. - Free Bike Valet

Still working on that hot first release.

Feeling a bit camera shy

Wam Dingis formed in 2003 at an 8th grade summer camp open mic with Jordan Avila and Darren Cochran. Fast forward one decade, Angela Vasquez joins in as the band’s bassist and backing vocals, following a serendipitous encounter with Jordan at The Charity Shop, a vintage thrift store and arts collective that he ran for several years. Soon after, Mindy Dymin, Jordan’s high school oil painting classmate, joins as the band’s violinist and electric pianist, bringing Wam Dingis to life. Since then, the band has shared the stage with the likes of All Them Witches, Figs Vision, Bogan Via,  and HOTT MT, at venues throughout Orange County and Los Angeles.

“Wam Dingis is the Los Angeles art rock foursome composed of Jor Avila, Mindy Dymin, Darren Cochran, and Angela Vasquez. With gleefully warbled guitars, swirling strings, scorching keys and frenetic rhythms, Wam Dingis conjures melodic art rock with undeniable pop hooks and an energy that’s contagious.

Wam Dingis is the friction between silk and velvet. The dream you remember having. The animal that pets you.”
