"Gold Artist Award"

RadioIndy.com has added Wanted By The FBI as a Gold Artist to their radio site! RadioIndy Review of your ""Wanted By The FBI"" CD

"Wanted By The FBI" (Blues Rock) by Wanted by the FBI is an original and exciting blues rock DVD/album. The band is very tight and strong. The guitar work on this CD blew us away! It's hard not to turn up the volume when listening to this band jamming on these tracks. The vocals are excellent for this genre. The emotional vocals draws the listener to the lyrics without overpowering the strength of the instrumental work. "How It's Gonna Feel" has a tight blues groove, harmonized guitar fills, and an incredibly screaching guitar solo, that helps to underscore the talent and tightness of this band. "Mean Thing" has excellent story-telling blues vocals along with the tremendous guitar fills. If you are a fan of blues or rock, you'll enjoy this outstanding DVD.

"Molson Concert Series 2008"

gritzmacher.net/2008/07/concert-iv-kenny-wayne-shepherd-band/#more-319Concert IV - Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band
26 Jul, 2008 by Al Gritzmacher Canal Concerts, Lockport, Music, Raves

Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Lynrd Skynrd move over, your heir-apparent is here!

The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band brought their blistering blues style to Lockport this week and warmed up an already hot summer night crowd.

I stayed up front close to the stage for this one. I couldn’t have moved if I wanted to, there were so many music fans packed in front of the stage to see the self-taught, Louisiana guitar prodigy Kenny Wayne Shepherd.

Front man, Noah Hunt, sang and got the crowd into it and the rest of the band was top-notch too, but the highlight was guitarist Shepherd. They put on a show that would have been huge in any of the area venues right here in Lockport. I couldn’t judge the crowd pinned to the front of the stage area, but I must have been the biggest so far.

See all the photos from last night.

The openers didn’t disappoint either.

In the middle slot, was another Lockport band, Wanted By The FBI. This journeyman band has been around a while, but has kept getting better. I hadn’t seen them in a couple years and was impressed. A solid blues group with great original lyrics, they put on a show worthy of opening for a name act. A regular name on the local blues band scene, you can see them if you missed last night at Attitudes on August 8th.

I think this was the season’s best show so far, not that there aren’t more great ones coming up. Finally, we got a headliner that is on the upward slope of their career, not in the cash-in-on-the-name oldies tour. The openers not only showed up, but their style fit in with the headline act, making it a stellar show for the fans. - Gritzmacher( Lockport News )

"Dream Toys Show"

I would like to thank all the people who attended the Dream Toys Show, so please forward this message.
The show was a huge success with thousands of people, probably the Best First time show ever produced in our area, on of the Hamburg police said it was like a 3 day Bills game without any problems. We estimate 15,000 – 20,000 people. A huge measure of excess is Macy’s gaining # 1 status in their district.

The show with everything from bounce house to 24’ Motorcycle was a treat for everyone. The great performance by the Bella Voice Studio singers, the superb fashion show by Deb’s Shop and Chayban’s drew hundreds of people and live music by Phil and the Wanted By The FBI, it was great and something to see in a middle of a mall food court.
I want to thank all the people tate displayed their Dream Toys especially my new buddy Dave with his original Indian MC display, IronArt Cycles with the Monster Bike, Scap with a room full of some of the best tuner cars in the country, Platinum Motorsports with their Race Bikes all the way from Falcon NY. There are so many people that helped Dave Cyberspokes-Jim Moonan-Tyler-

"Local Band Has Banner Year"

MUSIC: Local blues band gets international attention

An award-winning local blues band is having a banner year, finding itself in demand internationally and here at home.

“Wanted by the FBI” was wanted by Saudi Arabia to put on a New Year’s Eve concert and is now wanted by the Molson Canal Festival for a summer performance.

The Lockport-based band declined a $14,000 offer from the exotic city of Dubai, which sits on the Persian Gulf and on the other side of the Gulf of Oman from Iran.

“We didn’t think it was safe,” said lead singer Phil Salamone. While Dubai City is a well-off tourist destination, the group was advised not to venture out of the hotel.

However, the band is looking forward to its date in the Molson Canal Festival. According to Salamone, the blues band has been selected to be one of the opening bands in the series that begins in June.

Salamone plays guitar, harmonica and is the lead vocalist. Brian James of Tonawanda does bass and vocals; Jeff Jones of Newfane is lead guitar; and Joe Mangella of West Seneca is on drums.

Wanted by the FBI has earned some international attention. It was selected by RadioIndy.com for Gold Artist status. “Increase The Dosage” is No. 2 in top 20 blues radio. Radioindy Gold Artist screens thousands of songs by independent artists and names the best artists. It focuses on musicianship, song-writing and recording quality.

Radio stations from Buffalo to Paris are taking notice of Wanted by the FBI.

The band’s “Until The End Of The World” was picked for the No. 4 spot on Volume 5 of WBFO-FM radio’s recent CD. A Paris, France, radio station has been broadcasting the band’s CDs in 120 different countries. “It Takes A War "was No. 2 in the top 100 all time for 2007 on 365 Internet radio.

Some of Wanted by the FBI songs are rated PG, Salamone said. “It’s probably something my father wouldn’t like,” he said. “Part of being a musician is having an open mind.”

Music has always been a big part of his life. Salamone, 55, has been playing the guitar since he was 8. He was a fan of Stevie Wonder and taught himself how to play the harmonica. Salamone’s mother, Grace, sang opera professionally and for fun.

“I grew up with that,” he said.

The group rehearses at Salamone’s home on Prospect Street. The band went without a name for some time, but a temporary drummer had “Wanted by the FBI” on his drum cases. The name stuck. So did their style of music.

“Blues is pretty big,” Salamone said. “In Buffalo, it’s bigger than rock. People are getting tired of classic rock. With blues artists, there is always something new,” he said.

Salamone said their songs are striking a chord with young listeners, too. “The kids from NCCC loved us. We’ve got a good following, a fan base.”

The band plays at several venues regularly and is scheduled to perform at Attitudes in August. It also plays at outdoor events.

At the Molson Festival, two local bands are usually scheduled to open for each national group. Wanted by the FBI’s Web site is www.fbiblues.com.

MOLSON CONCERTS: Shepherd, Brotherhood, Wanted by the FBI

Staff Reports
Lockport Union-Sun & Journal
Kenny Wayne Shepherd, the self-taught guitar prodigy, took the Molson Canal Concert stage Friday to a big, enthusiastic crowd at the Ulrich City Center.

A pair of Lockport-based bands, Wanted by the FBI and the Brotherhood, kicked off the show.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd, born in Shreveport, La., learned how to play the guitar at age 7 from Muddy Waters records. At 13, joined New Orleans bluesman Bryan Lee on stage and decided on music as a career.

He formed his own band and gained early exposure through club dates and radio. His father helped him land a major-label record deal with Giant Records.

In 1995 at age 17, while still in high school, Shepherd had his first platinum album “Ledbetter Heights.” The recording was an immediate hit, selling more than 500,000 by early 1996. His combination of acoustic blues, rockin’ blues, Texas blues, Louisiana blues topped Billboard’s blues chart for 20 weeks. Blues records rarely achieve that level of commercial success.

Shepherd, now 31, was named No. 3 guitarist by Guitar World, B. B. King and Eric Clapton were named number one and two, respectively.

His “Trouble” album in 1997 received a Grammy-nomination as did his 1999 album, “Live On.” In 1998, the band was an opening act for the Rolling Stones during its “No Security” tour.

Shepherd has toured and played with many of his idols, including the Muddy Waters Band; B. B. King, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, Etta Baker and the Howlin’ Wolf Band.

In 2007, Shepherd appeared on The Tonight Show, opened for Lynyrd Skynyrd at the Orange County Fair and performed at the 2007 Dutch Mason Blues Festival.

He also backed up veteran southern blues players for a documentary, “10 Days Out.” Blues from the Backroads appeared in 2007.

Singles that reached the chart include, “Déjà Voodoo” in 1995, “Aberdeen” and “Born With a Broken Heart” in 1996, “Slow Rid” in 1997, “Somehow, Somewhere, Someway” and “Blue On Black” in 1998, “I” in 1999, “Was” in 2000; “Alive” in 2004 and “The Place You’re In” in 2005.

Shepherd married actor Mel Gibson’s daughter in September, 2006. The couple had a baby in 2007.

First on stage Friday was the Brotherhood, a four-piece band featuring Ken Trabert, vocals and acoustic guitar; Dave Stoll, lead guitar and vocals; Tom Mullaney, bass; and Matthew Knott on drums and vocals.

Playing in the series isn’t the only highlight of the summer for the Brotherhood. NASCAR will be using one of the band’s songs, “Shift,” as music for a commercial about membership. The commercial was shot in Chicago and will be airing on ESPN during NASCAR races by the end of the month.

Wanted by the FBI has also attracted some attention, including overseas. The band was wanted by Saudi Arabia to put on a New Year’s Eve concert but chose to decline a $14,000 offer to travel and perform in the city of Dubai, which sits on the Persian Gulf and on the other side of the Gulf of Oman from Iran. Lead singer Phil Salamone said the band did not feel safe, as the group was advised not to venture out of the hotel.

The band consists of Salamone on guitar, harmonica and is the lead vocalist. Brian James of Tonawanda does bass and vocals; Jeff Jones of Newfane is lead guitar; and Joe Mangella of West Seneca is on drums.

Wanted by the FBI was selected by RadioIndy.com for Gold Artist status. “Increase The Dosage” is No. 2 in top 20 blues radio. Radioindy Gold Artist screens thousands of songs by independent artists and names the best artists. It focuses on musicianship, songwriting and recording quality.

Radio stations from Buffalo to Paris are taking notice of Wanted by the FBI. The band’s “Until The End Of The World” was picked for the No. 4 spot on Volume 5 of WBFO-FM radio’s recent CD. Bio

Wanted by the FBI

Wanted by the FBI is a Rockin’ Blues band based in Lockport, New York. The three members of the current line-up have been playing together extensively for the past 25 years and were all members of the award winning (1988 Best Classic Rock Band) Buffalo based band Kixx, which played throughout Western New York and Pennsylvania during the late 80's and early 90's.

From 1986 till 1992, Kixx gained popularity performing extensively . Shortly after, the remaining members needed a break and the group disbanded. For several years , Phil and Brian experimented with various types of music and played in other bands until Phil established Wanted By The FBI in 2001. The band consisted of Phil and 3 new musicians and the band performed at small clubs and local events for several years in the Buffalo area. The band underwent multiple personnel changes over the years until 2007 when founding members of Kixx , Phil, Brian and Joe reunited and Wanted By The FBI was reborn as a trio. With two CDs released in 2007 and one DVD in 2008, their music is now played in 127 different countries. In 2008, their song, It Takes a War, off their CD by the same name, was #2 on Indie radio for the entire year.
