Wares is a musical project engineered by Edmonton musician Cassia J. Hardy. Debuting in the summer of 2013, Cassia quickly established a reputation for her engaging live show, performing her unique mix of heartfelt balladry and grimy, hair-raising punk. Since the release of her acclaimed 2014 EP City Kids, Cassia has filmed a video series with Noisey, toured Western Canada with Vancouver's Johnny de Courcy, appeared as a featured performer at Sled Island, Golden West Music Fest, and opened for veteran indie rocker Ted Leo.
Wares' latest 7" record -- set for release in March 2016 through Edmonton's Sweety Pie Records -- encapsulates her ongoing tightrope walk between mile-a-minute, heart-in-throat punk anthems ("Missed The Point") and sparse, melancholic pop explorations ("Beach Date"). Producer/engineer Blair Drover (Audio/Rocketry, Desiderata) captures the tension, the drama, and the driving passion that fuels every Wares show, and distills it into two sides of can't miss music. From teeth rattling electric convulsions to barely-there, reverb drenched refrains, the musical inflections explored by Wares are as varied as they are enthralling.
