Bio

“Authentic, Sophisticated, and definitely in the pocket. I dig War Pigeon.”
-Steve Slaton, Music Director KZOK Radio, Seattle

“Those War Pigeon, guys--- its how I felt about Sound Garden whenI first saw them playing divey Seattle bars…yeah, they got the stuff…”
-Patricia Ellinghausen

The members of War Pigeon came together in 2005 with an undeniable thirst for something new. Experimenting with genres and trading influences, the trio searched for a sound that wasn’t typical of the current scene. The result is a blend of lyrical and instrumental songs shaped by a jambalaya of backgrounds. Combining the power of rock n’ roll with the eloquence and abandon of jazz, War Pigeon is a street fight between Led Zeppelin and the Meters, while Miles Davis watches for cops. Following in the footsteps of other great power-trios, War Pigeon brings to mind the creativity and vision of such greats as Cream, the Police, and Medeski, Martin, and Wood. The ensuing performance reflects their energy and enthusiasm, providing audiences with a spontaneous, fluid experience that operates outside the boundaries of today’s popular music.
War Pigeon’s latest album, Glacier, was recorded by the band in a cabin near Mt. Baker in the Washington wilderness. Written, produced, and mixed by the band, Glacier is a snapshot of contrasting aesthetics and belief in open expression. There are no rules in the creative process; this is raw musical adventurism dedicated to real music fans. War Pigeon exemplifies these ideals in the studio and on the stage.
After performing throughout Washington, War Pigeon is focusing on expanding its already-loyal fan base and sharing its music with new listeners.
