Bio

Wars Over Wails (WOW) was initially formed in the Winter of 2005 as an acoustic duo. Through several years of gigging and lineup changes, founding members Terry Meyer and Kooper Brown have teamed up with Nick Artman, Jeremy Fisher, and Damian Dallabrida to complete the band's current, 5-piece lineup. The band's collective influences are as wide ranging as their musical abilities -- The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Dave Matthews Band, Buddy Rich, Frank Zappa, O.A.R., and Jimi Hendrix to name a few of the well-known artists. However, local musicians such as Ken Artman, Bernie Stellar, Dave Dallabrida, Bob Noll, and Kenn Brown have also impacted the band in a profound manner. The band's first EP was made available in the summer of 2006. Recorded in the basement of Terry Meyer's parents' home, Terry Meyer and former band member Nathan Hess blazed through the recording process to make their songs available to their fans through download and CD purchase -- though the recordings were not perfect, it put them in touch with the recording process and connected them on a greater level with their fans. Throughout 2007, 08, 09, and early 2010 the band's main focus was on gigging out and reaching new audiences. It was during this time that WOW opened for Nicholas Megalis at Pittsburgh's Mr. Small's Funhouse. The exposure from that show brought more opportunities for WOW to showcase their talents on a broader scale. Opening slots followed at Cleveland's Hi-Fi club for The Werks, Terry opened for Pat McGee with an acoustic set at the Hard Rock Cafe in Pittsburgh, and finally WOW landed a side-stage gig, opening for the Dave Matthews Band at the Post-Gazette Pavilion in Burgettstown, PA during the summer of 2009. In 2010 the band made its main focus to professionally record new music and re-dedicate themselves to bringing their music to as many people as possible. WOW runs away from the pack of other "bar bands" with their high-energy, non-stop shows. 4 and a half hours of non-stop music is considered just another night for this band and their fans. With a new CD on the horizon, 2011 looks to be a good year for Wars Over Wails.
