"Record Review"

On only their first full length, Washington Square Park have shown that they're the new band to watch in the New Jersey scene today. Taking pop punk roots but showing the balls to write exactly what they want to write, this is a group that have the potential to have a long career and make an impact with quality music and honest words.

Bio

I figure by now that most people realize bands, regardless of their clever use of pronouns, are usually the ones writing their own bios. You'll have to forgive me for my lack of concern and/or professionalism, which may have been lost when I dropped out of High School 4 years ago to tour with a band. Though hazy, I do know that in the past few years I've had the greatest highs of my life and the greatest lows. There was traveling the country doing what I loved and meeting plenty of great people along the way. There was also label troubles, empty shows and most recently (and importantly) the death of my father. The latter being the main motivation to step out from behind the drum kit and get behind the microphone.

As a whole, Washington Square Park is made up of individuals well aware of how fast time flies. Any moment not spent doing what we love is a wasted one. We don't expect to see home much over the next few years. We can't say we expect to have much money in our pockets over the next few years, but to awkwardly quote myself from a past show, "I'd rather rot in a gutter (guitar in hand) than have to fill out TPS reports for Bob". While blunt, I think the statement is charmingly fitting. Yeah, I think it suits us just fine :) -Max
