We are currently working on our debut album. It is being recorded at the Hotel 2 Tango by Howard Bilerman(Arcade Fire, Silver Mt-Zion, Godspeed you! Black emperor) and co-engineered by Brian Paulson(Wilco, Beck, Dinosaur JR.)
The entire project is being produced by Vincent Gallo.

Was It The Walrus was born in the fevered imagination of singer/songwriter Jason Norris. After incarnations in punk bands and a brief spell as a brash folksinger, Jason moved to Montreal on a quest to find the amalgamation of friends and idols to help him make his ideal record.
It wasn't that hard to do, and his search still goes on. WAS IT THE WALRUS benefits from regular guest stars. Collaborators and contributors who play pivotal roles in the ongoing theatrescape of Norris' imagination, and what happens when they do is the music of the Walrus. "The only thing that seems to stay put is me," Norris says. "Everyone else takes their turn on drums, guitar, xylophone - and almost everyone sings."
Regular collaborators would include Alexandra Scott whose solo music so entranced Jason that he invited her to join the band before they ever met; Charles Pham-Dang who decided to join the band in the middle of a trip in Japan; Ingrid Wissink who was only ever ment to play on one track won all of them over with her warmheartedness and soft touch appeal.
But what does it sound like, you're wondering? It sounds exactly like what happens when nervous energy, art-rock aesthetic, closeted affection for pop music and open adoration of Montreal indie rock, devotion to dogs, a little too much literacy (the name WAS IT THE WALRUS comes from the final chapter in Jason's favourite book by Salman Rushdie) and an effervescent live performance come together.

The Walrus upcoming debut album, produced by the unholy trinity of Vincent Gallo engineered by Howard Bilerman (Godspeed You Black Emperor, A Silver Mount Zion, The Arcade Fire) and tentatively titled ERASE A WHITEOUT WORLD, aims to fill you up with vitamin pride, to provide good music for people who use public transport and/or jetpacks, and to be (theyre not ashamed to say it) your new favorite record.
Was It the Walrus feels strongly about the following things: everything matters but nothing should be taken too seriously; dogs are nicer than people; breakfast is the most important meal of the day; and they just want to play music all the time
