Feeling a bit camera shy


wastelands started back in 2000 with augury and short fuze...they began recording together while meeting in college...they began recording a demo shortly after doing various shows and open mics. about 3 months later they met taiyamodenku through a mutual friend, brought him to the studio and began collaborating on songs. those songs turned out so well, short fuze and augury invited taiyamodenku to join the group...those songs would turn into the album seasons change. in 2003 they released theur 1st official release called rules of evolution which some noise in the chicago underground scene, even recieving the label as: "the best album to come out of the chicago scene in the last 5 years..." in 2004 they released guests of honor, a compilation which featured themselves, as well as the likes of immortal technique, psalm one and freestyle as well as many others. 2005 marked a successful year for the group as they continued to push their music by doing shows with the likes of: qwel, linc, longshot, v8 as well as a host of others. wastelands has collaborated with hangar 18 of def jux, deacon the villain of qn5 music, omid, nasa of uncommon records and cryptic one and jest one of the atoms family. what sets wastelands apart is the fact they have remained fans of true hip hop music, which inspires them to create their own. some of their influences include: wu tang clan, rakim, bdp, public enemy, def jux, as well as many others...wastelands goal is to create quality music combined with an element of teaching while entertaining.
