 ANOTHER LIFE waterstreet blues band

Delivering a "fresh take on the blues," the Waterstreet Blues Band performs high energy interpretations of jump, hard rocking electric and urban style blues; adding a splash of jazz or a funky New Orleans groove. Comprised mostly of original tunes, this album represents the collective experiences and influences of the band.  The traditional 12 bar blues form is significantly altered or infused with jazz, pop and latin elements. Ranging from the funky "North South," the minor blues "Hit the Wall," the rollicking "Hard Lovin' Man" (a set-ending favourite), the New Orleans-pop, Next to You, through to the jazzy vibe of "Cautious Eyes," the blues are never far away.  With "Evening," "Fine and Mellow," and "I Get Evil," Waterstreet pays homage to three musical giants: T Bone Walker, Billie Holiday and Albert King. RERELEASE 2020 (2002,2009)

New waterstreet fans say they “didn’t know they liked the blues” until they heard waterstreet’s unique blend of original modern blues!   Rob Deyman rocks electric blues guitar, and adds a jazzy groove or rootsy growl as the music inspires. On rock-solid bass, Paul Sapounzi delivers killer vocals that drive high energy band performances. Silvia Dee brings on keys, vocals and a bluesy accordion edge. Together they form the heart of the band. Over the years they have developed close collaborations with musical friends - mixing in highly talented drummers, harp players and additional guests to amplify the waterstreet experience.

As a trio, 4 or 5-piece group, the waterstreet blues band performs at festivals, clubs and theatres across Ontario including FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton. The band is active with festival appearances - including the Southside Shuffle, Kitchener Blues Festival, West Coast Blues Festival, Lighthouse Blues Festival, Orangeville Blues and Jazz Festival, Uptown Waterloo Jazz Festival, Canal Bank Shuffle, Guelph Rib Fest and more. A once-in-a-century pandemic brought the band and engineer Cory Barnes together, and propelled them to take the album to an inspired finish line. Recorded in winter and lovingly mixed during an epidemic lockdown, the result is a blues party album with a retro rock 'n' roll vibe that tells stories of lives well-lived. You can also stream or download their previous album  "Another Life"  from your preferred streaming platform, bandcamp and more.
