After getting some buzz around his singles, Wave Chapelle shares a new mixtape.
Wave Chapelle is part of a slew of rising rappers and producers coming out of the unheralded city of Milwaukee. After declaring his dedication to his craft with singles like “Overtime,” Wave Chapelle has dropped off a full-length project called W⚡️. He's joined by fellow Milwaukee natives Majeei Vu, IshDARR and Yung Satori.
The tracks don’t stray too far from the so far winning formula that Wave established with “Let’s Win” and “Overtime.” The tape’s carries a sports theme throughout, from the Gatorade lighting bolt on the cover to the sports metaphors Wave uses in many of the songs. He does get introspective on songs like “Time” and “All Good,” so it isn’t all aggression and success talk. - HotNewHipHop
Yesterday, we brought you an in-depth interview with the Milwaukee buck, Wave Chapelle. We sat down to chat about the local scene in the 414 and his new project W, which is now available for mass consumption. And as promised, the project is here, and it’s pretty brilliant.
At 11 tracks deep, W sets out to further cement Wave’s place in the rap game, and help put his hometown on the map. The W stands for the ultimate W, the win; and he’s about to see a handful of W’s after the world gets a crack at this. No losses over here. We are the champions, and enter the winners circle. - Fake Shore Drive
Milwaukee resident Wave Chapelle is one of many young up and comers from the area. Over the course of the year, Chapelle has delivered a slew of loosies, including the basketball-themed "Let's Win" with IshDARR. (Basketball-themed tracks almost always get a look from me, and this one turned out pretty well, too.)
Today, the "Lately" rapper returns with a new mixtape, W — named after what he hopes to rack up with the project: wins. in addition to IshDARR, W has one feature from Yung Satori and is mostly produced by Maajei Vu. - 2DopeBoyz
Wave Chapelle touched down with his “Overtime” single last month and now decides to unleash the remainder of his awaited W mixtape.
The 11-song project includes contributions from Yung Satori, Maajei Vu, Meza, Kush, Bizness Boi, and more. - Rap Wave
With track titles like "Let's Win," "Overtime" and "Home Team" — and loads of metaphors in the lyrics — Wave Chapelle takes the sports-theme on "W" a bit too far. But repetition aside, Chapelle also illustrates why Yo Gotti offered him a record deal, via his charismatic, natural flow. And the trap-influenced production suggests Chapelle is finding his voice, a big leap from 2014's promising but sonically scattered "Only the Beginning." - Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
