The Seattle Semi-Pro Wrestling cofounder and well-known local treasure is currently laid up in the hospital, unfortunately just as SSP's annual Chronic Pain event is going down (Wednesday, April 19, at Consolidated Works). Featuring the considerable talents of 206 Rhymesayers Grayskul (currently putting the finishing touches on their next official album Bloody Radio), the mufuckin' Mind Movers massive, and of course the brutish, senseless violence of SSP's own brain-damaged wrestlers. The next day, Neumo's plays host to Seattle's true underground collective Project Mayhem, as they present sets from Alpha P, Mind Movers, and BYC Crew. Project Mayhem are a shadowy collective of crews and individuals dedicated to that raw shit—our best intel tells us their membership includes: Alpha P (Asun and Jerm), Mind Movers (Inkubiz, Phreewil, Ses, Open Hands, Mic Flont, Khanfidenz), Rajnii, Language Arts, the Elefaders (DJs Showbot, Able, Hail), Mixed Mediums, Proof of Life, DJ B-Girl, Verideth, Robbery Runamuk, and Gabriel Teodros.

Mind Movers recently presented the Think Tank compilation, chock-full of brand-new material from most of the Project Mayhem artists and others. The 21 tracks and the wide range of collaboration, while providing a couple skippable moments, bring 'nuff rewindable standouts, such as the evil-sounding cold-world screed "Texas Instruments," featuring scathing verses from Khingz, Phreewil, Inkubiz, and Asun. That's my joint right there! Overall, the production (provided by Phreewil, OC Notes, Cin 7, and Unorthodox Zero) is upbeat and crate deep. The basement sounds are spiked with a little Afrobeat here, a little Latin jazz there. Take in the show, 206-hop fans, and take a CD or three home with you. - The Stranger

(Nectar) Readers of the Stranger will no doubt be familiar with tonight's second opening act, Gabriel Teodros. Teodros' debut full-lenth, Lovework, which Charles Mudede hailed as "aggressively feminist" and "a gorgeous work of hiphop," was a landmark record in a year of big 206 hiphop releases. Perhaps less familiar are headliners Waves of the Mind, a trio of MCs - Inkubiz, Mic Flont and Khanfidenz - and producer Phreewil, representing local crew Mind Movers. Their production brims with dark soul samples, and their delivery caries from MC to MC, from lazy rasp to agile double-time to jumbled, slightly off-beat multisyllabics. Of the four tracks posted on their website, "Future Generation," with its electronic buzz and anthemic chorus, is the clear standout. Teodros also appears with Abyssinian Creole, where his casual, conscious flow is offset by Khingz's smart breathless swagger.
