Bio
"Bizzaro Psych Noise Pop" may sound a bit radical as a genre, but as a self-invented description of the music by Los Angeles based five piece Wax Children it is an accurate definition of their sound. Noisy breaks drenched in reverb and delay with melodic vocal expressions colliding in Wax Children’s delicately frantic and potent atmosphere that leads you into the dream that they themselves have created.
Formed in late 2012 Wax Children released three self-recorded albums. ‘Dreamsick’ self-released in June 2012, 'Safe Hands' released on Lolipop Records in January 2013, and 'Angst' released on Lolipop Records in January 2014. The albums present Wax Children’s signature sound, and has established the band as one of the promising acts in Los Angeles. With reviews from blogs such as OC Weekly, Amoeba Blog, Grimy Goods, Free Bike Valet, CMJ, Buzzbands LA and a front page write up in the Downey Patriot newspaper.
Wax Children was formed in 2012 by Victor 'Mr. Wall' Paredes (Vox/Guitar), Alfonso 'Cal Jones' Salcido III (Lead Guitar) and Julian 'Fieldhouse' Whitfield (Drums/Percussion), when they met while displaying their art work at the Moon Block Festival in Pomona. Victor and Alfonso recorded 'Dreamsick' under the name 'Django's Tiger' with an inconsistent line-up until meeting Julian. They quickly discovered that they shared a passion for creating similar styles of music. After working together, the three decided on a name change and took the new material into the studio to record 'Safe Hands'. During this time, they continued filing through multiple members until landing on the addition of Luis 'Loodah' Rodarte (Bass) & Edgar 'Forest' Ruiz (Synth/Guitar/Percussion/Vox), thus Wax Children was born.
The debut album ‘Angst’ was recorded, produced and mixed by Wax Children, while the art work of the album was done by the talented young artist Sean Norvet who depicted their creation into a visually eerie setting.
Alongside playing various shows throughout Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Oakland, Coachella Valley and Mexico, Wax Children is currently working on new material for an upcoming release planned for this winter.
