Bio
Innovative, exciting, dynamic, passionate and real! These are all words that describe the hip-hop stylistics of the newest artist on the gospel scene, Wayland Wilson. With a compassion for the lost, and a desire to see change in the hearts of others, Wayland is on the cutting edge of gospel music. He is sincere and committed to using his talent in order to reach the lost, heal the hurting, and shake traditionalism out of the church.
Raised as an only child in the Washington-Metropolitan area, Wayland’s interest in the whole hip-hop culture, its lyrics and boldness began in his early teens when providing his peers with mix tapes in the King’s Creek neighborhood of Largo, MD. It was soon after this, at the age 18, that Wayland gave his life to Christ and began the process of change in his life.
Wayland’s transformation into a gospel hip-hop artist came in the summer of 98’, after his freshman year at Capitol College. He began writing rhymes that would bring about change into the lives of those who heard him. In 2001 after performing locally at various venues, Wayland was asked to use his dynamic rhyming skills on a song entitled “The Call” which is on the CD “The Glory of God” released by a local ministry.
In August 2004 Wayland and Elia Druyard would meet and partner together to form “Etched-N-Stone Records, LLC.”
“RELEASED” the labels and Wayland’s first album was introduced to the world in June 2005.
