Wayne's music is a great blend of Rock, Southern Rock, Blues, Country, and even some Psychedelia. Solid songs that tell a story. Music that takes you back to straight ahead no-nonsense guitar driven rock and roll.

Biography

From Pike County, Kentucky (Phelps to be exact), meet Wayne Evan Douglas. At the tender age of 8 Wayne took up the guitar. But at age 13, while listening to the radio, heard some guy named Jimi Hendrix and decided he had to be like him. He spent the next 2 years in his room playing every chance he could. Pretty soon a high school band was formed and a musician was on the rise! Bands came and went and since Phelps is a small coal mining town there was just not a lot of music happening in the local area. A call from Texas from his sister saying "come out here the music is great!" and Wayne was on the road.

Settling in the town of Mesquite, Texas Wayne hit the classifieds to find many bands seeking musicians. His dream had come true, and he auditioned and was soon playing for a singer/songwriter playing original material. After a few months of rehearsal the Riders Of The Inland Surf was born, a great band with gigs 4 nights a week in the Dallas area. Soon thereafter an album was produced. Radio airplay and favorable reviews ensued. But differences of opinion soon ended the band and they split up. Sad and disappointed, Wayne returned to his roots in Phelps, KY.

Things were not that bad. He went back to work at the local coal mine but met his future wife, Samantha, and they married. Married now for 18 years and 3 children Joshua, Zachary, and Gabriella joined older brothers Matthew and Corey.

1990 brought some music changes to Wayne. Upon attending the local church he expressed an interest in joining a Christian Rock band. In total Wayne has played for 3 Christian Rock bands with the last band, Hushpuppy, which produced a 10 song album. Changes in music and disagreements among musicians Wayne decided music was just not fun anymore and put his guitar down and decided to spend more time with his family.

A short time turned into 8 years but one day picked up the guitar again, dusted it off, and was surprised that he still had his musical skills and abilities. He just needed to to practice and shake off the rust from his fingers. Once Wayne got his confidence back he took his music to the next level and started to write. Wayne decided not to let anything get in his way and also to write what came to his mind and not rush the songs but allow them to be born in their own rite. 8 months later 4 songs were being recorded in a studio.

Wayne is now on his way to finishing his solo CD for a mid 2007 release.

Just To See You Smile

Written By: Wayne Evan Douglas

The sun comes up on another morning
I turn around to see you lying next to me
It gets me thinking back on our crazy days together and it's been worth it all the while
Just To See You Smile

I go to work and it's another hectic day
Business as usual it never seems to change
But all my thoughts just keep on wandering back to you
And it makes it worth it all the while
Just To See You Smile

If what I know now is what I knew then
I wouldn't change a thing
I'd do it all again
You can take the rainiest day and make it all worthwhile
Sometimes I swear that the whole world should stop
Just To See You Smile

The sun comes up on another morning
I turn around to see you lying next to me
It gets me thinking back on our crazy days together and it's been worth it all the while
Just To See You Smile

The Rest Of Your Life

Written By: Wayne Evan Douglas

I can't keep your heart from breaking
Can't right the wrongs that I've done
I can't keep the clouds from rolling
Can't hold back the light from the sun
I can't keep your tears from falling
But I can dry your eyes
Some things in this world I can do nothing about
But on this you can rely

That I can love you
For the rest of your life
I can love you
For the rest of your life

I can't keep the stars from shining
Or hold back the ocean's waves
I can't keep a ship from sinking
Or move the mountains away
I can't keep the pain from hurting
But I'm here when you need a friend
Some things in this world I can do nothing about
But on this you can depend

That I can love you
For the rest of your life
I can love you
For the rest of your life

Can't keep the bad days from coming
But I can make you smile
I can't make time stand still
But I can make it worth your while

I can love you
For the rest of your life
I can love you
For the rest of your life

Jack Daniels And Jesus

Written By: Aaron Owens, Patrick Owens, Wayne Evan Douglas

He's got a ragged old jacket and holes in his shoes
No money in his pocket and nothing to lose
He sleeps in an alley, it's where he calls home
An old napsack for a pillow and a bed made of stone

He's got a bottle of whiskey and a bible in his hand
Hoping one or the other will take him to the promised land
Sin and salvation are on the menu today
But Jack Daniels And Jesus don't work the same way

He opens the bottle and opens the book
Takes a swig of the whiskey and drinks a chapter in Luke
And a little more whiskey to help ease the pain
But Jack Daniels And Jesus don't work the same way

The bottle lays empty, the book lays on the ground
His body lays still, he doesn't make a sound
Sometimes it takes a poor soul to learn the hard way
That Jack Daniels And Jesus don't work the same way

He opens the bottle and opens the book
Takes a swig of the whiskey and drinks a chapter in Luke
And a little more whiskey to help ease the pain
But Jack Daniels And Jesus don't work the same way

No Jack Daniels And Jesus don't work the same way
