Bio

From Pike County, Kentucky (Phelps to be exact), meet Wayne Evan Douglas. At the tender age of 8 Wayne took up the guitar. But at age 13, while listening to the radio, heard some guy named Jimi Hendrix and decided he had to be like him. He spent the next 2 years in his room playing every chance he could. Pretty soon a high school band was formed and a musician was on the rise! Bands came and went and since Phelps is a small coal mining town there was just not a lot of music happening in the local area. A call from Texas from his sister saying "come out here the music is great!" and Wayne was on the road.

Settling in the town of Mesquite, Texas Wayne hit the classifieds to find many bands seeking musicians. His dream had come true, and he auditioned and was soon playing for a singer/songwriter playing original material. After a few months of rehearsal the Riders Of The Inland Surf was born, a great band with gigs 4 nights a week in the Dallas area. Soon thereafter an album was produced. Radio airplay and favorable reviews ensued. But differences of opinion soon ended the band and they split up. Sad and disappointed, Wayne returned to his roots in Phelps, KY.

Things were not that bad. He went back to work at the local coal mine but met his future wife, Samantha, and they married. Married now for 18 years and 3 children Joshua, Zachary, and Gabriella joined older brothers Matthew and Corey.

1990 brought some music changes to Wayne. Upon attending the local church he expressed an interest in joining a Christian Rock band. In total Wayne has played for 3 Christian Rock bands with the last band, Hushpuppy, which produced a 10 song album. Changes in music and disagreements among musicians Wayne decided music was just not fun anymore and put his guitar down and decided to spend more time with his family.

A short time turned into 8 years but one day picked up the guitar again, dusted it off, and was surprised that he still had his musical skills and abilities. He just needed to to practice and shake off the rust from his fingers. Once Wayne got his confidence back he took his music to the next level and started to write. Wayne decided not to let anything get in his way and also to write what came to his mind and not rush the songs but allow them to be born in their own rite. 8 months later 4 songs were being recorded in a studio.

Wayne is now on his way to finishing his solo CD for a mid 2007 release.
