3.5/5 stars: The trio’s latest album blends banjo-based roots rock with traditional gospel blues. Frontman Charles Peter Keichline sings with a brooding rasp, his Southern pedigree particularly palpable on tracks like “Gulf Water,” while “Laramie” and “The Meanest Tree In Town” tell of a darker, woe-is-me side of folk. - Austin Monthly

Bio
Born in 2012 as a collaboration between singer-songwriter Charles Peter Keichline and guitarist James White, We Are Blood Bays presents a unique vision of well-worn themes. A gypsy train rolling through the desert… A sideshow symphony backing a carnival barker… A worn out paperback of Southern noir about ambiguous heroes and sympathetic antagonists… A junk band choir playing for tips down at Junior’s place…
Featuring violinist/vocalist Amy Blackard, bassist Courtney Jackson, percussionist Dennis Carter, and Hillary Thomas-Oliver on cello and backing vocals, We Are Blood Bays creates a sound that combines the dark and dusty corners of Americana and rock… country and psychedelic gospel blues. The band released their first full-length album, Mexican Fiction, with producer Chico Jones of Ohm Recording in January 2017 and are currently in the studio working on new material.Band Members
