Our music sounds like... uh... well...? Let me get back to you on that...

Over the course of a person’s life, one can at the end of it, count the number of good friends he or she might have on one hand such as their spouse, their children, and maybe a lifelong friend from high school. However, as usual, there is always an exception to the rule. In this case, those friends occupy all five fingers of the other hand. The Christian Rock/Blues band that call themselves simply “His”, (as in the possessive form of the word, “he”) formed originally as a two membered duet with rhythm guitarist Doug Birdsell and vocalist, Erik Jeffreys, just for the fun of it. Within a year after the acoustic/singing duet got together, Erik Jeffreys received some troubling news about his daughter to be; she had Down Syndrome, was in poor health, and that kept the two of them from playing for a while. After more than a year of playing together they met up with blues guitarist Doug Rouse, whom the year before had tried convincing Doug and Erik that the three of them should start a full band. Three out of five were complete. After a very short period of time, Doug Rouse found the answer the band had been looking for in a drummer by answering an email through a local band network website. Within a week, they seized drummer Jason Boyd. While a couple of dry months went by with a temporary bass player, Doug Birdsell contacted a friend whom he use to tend church with and likewise played with in the church’s praise band, thus securing bass player Jose Mendez. In June of 2007, the five man band called “His” was finally complete. Since then, they have played in local venues around the Houston area as well as festivals, events, and church functions. They often carry a twenty minute salvation message which has led many to Christ. HiS Christian Rock band offers a unique blend of crisp and clean bluish melodies with vocal sounds soaked in influences drifting from the early 70's Elton John era. It's mix of bending guitar from like sounded Stevie Ray Vaughan player makes this popular Houston Christian cover band an event show stopper!

I am a thief, I am a murderer
Walking up this lonely hill
What have I done? I don't remember
No one knows just how I feel
and I know that my time is coming soon.
It's been so long. Oh, such a long time
Since I've lived with peace and rest
Now I am here, my destination
I guess things work for the best
and I know that my time is coming soon
Who is this man? This man beside me
That they call the King of the Jews
They don't believe that He's the Messiah
But, somehow I know it's true.
And they laugh at Him in mockery,
and beat Him till he bleeds,
They nail Him to the rugged cross,
and raise Him, they raise Him up next to me
My time has come, I'm slowly fading
And I deserve what I receive
Jesus, when You are in Your kingdom
Could You please remember me
and He looks at me still holding on
and tears fall from His eyes
He says I tell the truth
Today, you will live with Me in paradise
and I know that my time is coming soon, woah yeah, yeah
and I know that my time, my time is coming soon, woah yeah, yeah
and I know paradise, paradise is coming soon.
