Bio

The Raid are a Hemel Hempstead based Rock n’ Roll five- piece. Founded in 2003 by then five teenagers with terrible haircuts, they have since played hundreds of gigs across the UK, with audience ranging between 1 person (their manager) and 1500.

A 2008 EP release has seen them featured on various national radio stations, including a winning spot on Zane Lowe’s Fresh Meat. Shortly after they replaced their drummer and hair style.

In 2009 they signed a production deal with The Sonic Front. Together with their producer, Jacques De Kooning, the band decided to spend the majority of the recording budget on cutting their debut album live at Abbey Road Studio 3. After 2 days there, a few more days overdubbing in Hackney, and 8 months of mixing, Written Rough was ready.

Although passionate consumers of modern music, with likes given to the likes of The Walkman and Lykke Li, the lads can’t help the feeling that music was better before the iron lady came to power. And so for their music they draw inspiration from Dylan, The Stones, The Beatles and pretty much any artist without a Facebook page.
