It’s hard to find where to start with this one, this is quite a diverse selection of songs on an 8 track album or mini album depending on how you look at things. My initial impression was one of excitement and intrigue upon hearing the song Ice which is without a doubt the stand out track on this album. I went in with reasonably lofty expectations after hearing that track and although the album is good Ice sets a standard that other tracks don’t always manage to keep up with.

Ice is certainly my favourite track of the lot i found the guitar work in the verse to be a fantastic blend of the intricacies that make bands like minus the bear such a joy to listen to yet with a harder more aggressive rock edge as well. The song shows a consistent and smart development with a strong blend of the component instruments to produce a stand out and interesting track. I imagine the chorus going down well in a proper rock venue with everyone punching the air and singing along!

It’s a shame that the album doesn’t hold this songs same level of creativity, each of the tracks contain some exciting elements and clever ideas but never feel quite as unique and complete as Ice. Vyss however comes as a very pleasant surprise in the collection of tracks, really showcasing the strength of the vocals and is a welcome dynamic change from the rest of the album. It too is well constructed and showcases ever more the potential of this band.

It was a breath of fresh air listening to We Could Build An Empire. Given the current UK scene it’s nice to hear a rock band being a rock band.. If this band continues to push it’s songs to show more of the ingenuity and intelligence of Ice they can only get better. These are definitely a must listen to artist for rock music fans and people who want to experience something that strays from the current state of contemporary alternative music in the UK.

"Ice... gives a pleasant feeling of both external and internal peace."Easy" and "Finest Work" also (contains) insanely delicious moments (...) dynamic and driving (...) a colorful seance on a mountaintop. This is a band I gladly bring in my headphones while watching this winter turn into spring. 7/10"

Album track “Vyss” recently went to number one in a regional weekly top list on Swedish Radio and Ice, Finest Work and Fall Free have all been played on various Internet Radio stations.

The album is avaliable on iTunes, Amazon.com, Spotify, Napster, emusic etc. etc.

We Could Build an Empire are just about to release their debut album. We are pretty sure this band has its own expression which is hard to compare to any other artist, so we figured you would find their music interesting.
The self-entitled debut album will be released on CD on December 1st and was preceded by a demo release in Sweden featuring three of the album's eight tracks.
Two of Sweden's biggest music magazines got hold of the demo release and were very impressed.

Gaffa.se gave it 4 out of 5 stars and Close-Up Magazine wrote:

”Ice... gives a pleasant feeling of both external and internal peace."Easy" and "Finest Work" also (contains) insanely delicious moments (...) dynamic and driving (...) a colorful seance on a mountaintop."

The album was written, recorded and produced by the band members themselves and mixing took place in Studio Underground, Sweden (No Fun at All, Wolf, Sherlock Brothers etc).

The band's influences vary from such bands as Alice In Chains, King's X and King Crimson to artists like Peter Gabriel, Captain Beefheart and PJ Harvey. Two promo videos have been shot and one of them, “Dogs”, is directed by Per Hillblom who has also worked with Pain of Salvation, Le Mans etc.

The band opened for Danish rockers D-A-D in August and have been featured several times on Sweden's biggest showcase concept held at festivals and venues around the country; NEMIS – New Music In Sweden. The track “Vyss” recently went to number one in a regional weekly top list on Swedish Radio so the question now can only be: Is the rest of the world ready..?
