Based in Richmond, Virginia, Weeping Molly is a rock band that emerged onto the Richmond music scene in early 2010. Since then, Weeping Molly has performed in numerous venues such as, The National, Daddios, Sharky's, Hyperfest, First Friday's Art Walk, The Watermelon Festival, Plaza Bowl, Chesterfield Chili Cookoff and Poes Pub. They have also had the opportunity to open for Awareness Art Ensemble (AAE), a Nationally touring band.
Distinguishing features include their, diverse musical styles and the uniquely soulful and powerful voice of lead vocalist Elana Lisa. Rob Birzer brings melodic and progressive rhythms on the guitar along with heartfelt and ripping solos. Rod Hyner and Rich Dattilo provide a solid foundation with lots of groove as the drummer and bass player.
Cover songs are often customized to fit the band's unique style.
Weeping Molly covers bands such as: Led Zepplin, Stevie Wonder, Laura Marling, Rolling Stones, The Who, Natalie Merchant, REM, Autoslave, Neil Young, Rush, Jimi Hendrix and more.
Their originals emphasize melody and variety and most of them are written about life experiences.
