"People really knew how to shake it in the 60s"

Watch this music video from Denver’s We Like Monsters and tell me if it makes you as happy as it made me (and by that I mean multiple plays are necessary). It’s a catchy tune set to a Indian horror film in the 60s called Gumnaam. Everyone’s shakin’ it like there is no tomorrow and I like that attitude. If you dig the track, it’s called Le Tigre and available for free here: http://welikemonsters.com/ - Holiday Matinee

"We Like Monsters: Denver, CO"

I was lucky to have the opportunity to see We Like Monsters live at Moe’s BBQ in Denver during the Underground Music Showcase, a festival. These fellas are an indie band with a real unique sound & feel. The lead singer, Tim, is a standout band orchestrator with a a drum stick sticking out of his back pocket as he sings. Previously, Tim was in a band called GreenField where he sang, said Adam, the former bassist in greenfield. When he is not singing, he either plays the keyboard or triggers samples and sounds with his midi pad, as the rest of the band takes center stage. The other band members pick up the slack with their superb musicality and feel. The bassist, has a rocker’s stance, and beanie to match it. The lead keyboardist has a double stack, or two keyboards on top of each other, each with their own customized synth sounds to enable versatile timbres for melodies. If you like the music, don’t miss an opportunity to see We Like Monsters in a personable venue (before they become well known)! - Freio Music

Bio

We Like Monsters is a Denver-based indie rock band that has built a sound and scene from the ground up. By experimenting with instrumentation and electronic sounds, pulling in elements of the avant garde, and drawing on each members strong musicianship, the band pulls from their collective influences and proves that nothing is off limits when it comes to their creative muse.

Their unique sound has already caught the attention of music fans and tastemakers, including Channel 93.3 DJ, Alf, who's been spinning "Secret Frequency" and "Landmarks" on the KTCL Locals Only show. The band's first music video for "Le Tigre", received over 12k views and was an instant hit with Google and Marmot who both used the track in recent promotional videos that went viral on YouTube.

WLM is rooted in a nearly decade-long collaboration between veteran Colorado musicians Timothy White (vocals and keys) and Joe Crowley (guitar). The two began writing songs together as teenagers and maintained a creative partnership over the years; when joined by New Zealander Somchai Perri (bass) and accomplished jazz performer, Brian Campbell (synthesizer, samples and trumpet) in 2011, We Like Monsters was born.

The band got their start in a deserted downtown Denver factory turned state-of-the-art music studio and performance space. The aptly renamed Factory was renovated by White and Crowley, and repurposed as a haven for musicians and artists to create and collaborate. The birthplace of We Like Monsters speaks volumes to their identity as a band thats motivated by reinvention; drawing on their collective pop, rock, post-punk, new wave, and electronic influences, WLM has tipped their hats to those who came before while carving out their own place in the records of pop music.
