It was not that long ago that Anna von Hausswolff was just an anonymous architecture student in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Today she is one of Sweden’s most talked-about artists, on the brink of what will presumably become her international breakthrough.
Anna was born in September 1986. Her mother, Evalena, is a practising psychologist, and her father, Carl Michael von Hausswolff, is a world-renowned artist and sound artist.
In the autumn of 2008, Anna started composing her songs, all alone in an apartement, and, in due time, recording her more and more personal compositions for voice and piano. Summer 2009, a series of small explosions and chain reactions appears; Anna spends July and August in Henry Lipp´s Music-A-Matic-Studios, and a great work of art slowly begins totakes shape.
Anna von Hausswolff´s début EP Track of Time was released this year in February by Kning Disk – magnificent avant-garde pop with its crosshairs trained on the heart. Anna has a voice and a presence that could topple mountains. Unbridled, she engages every nuance of her voice at the same time as she lets dark rivers gush from the piano.
After a concert held in Stockholm in the winter, national Swedish newspaper DN’s Fredrik Strage wrote: ”Behind me, a woman begins to sniffle after just the first half-minute. It is, quite literally, so beautiful that it hurts”.
And now, May 5 2010, Anna´s first album Singing from the grave appears, and this, my friends is no less than a masterpiece, a modern Swedish classic! Singing from the grave is about life and death.
When played through your stereo speakers, the minutes and seconds will dissolve, and time will definately stop, disappear. You will immediately be reminded of all the emotionally strong feeling you have ever felt in your own life; losses of dear ones, births, love. Dandelions explodes in promises of the eternal summer...
