Wendy Joy Lake was raised in a pastor's home in Baltimore, MD. She grew up in inner city ministry and is still active in inner city work today. She started singing on stage at the age of three! She met her future husband in church at seven years of age, and has been blessed with two daughters. Wendy Lake is an artist driven by her love for music and people, as well as her commitment and devotion to God. Her songs are touching lives on radio across the country on XM32 The Fish as well as international distribution, radio and television coverage. She has written every song she has recorded, and each one has it's own story behind it. "That's How Much" was written in her car, on her way to church. Just trying to express her love for the Lord, these words flowed through her so quickly, she could hardly write them fast enough. "Forgiven " was written as she was having a conversation with her brother about a friend of his that didn't feel he was worthy of relationship with God, because of the things he had done in his past. In "Forgiven", Wendy tells of how God is not worried with what we have done in our past. He sent His Son for the purpose of our forgivness, knowing that we needed a savior. He loves us regardless of the things we've done. The song "Overcome" is dedicated to her triumph over uterine cancer. Her faith has brought her through, and showed her that with God, she can overcome anything life brings her way! Wendy has a heart for the poor, and hurting, the drug addict, and the prostitute. She enjoys singing on the streets of the city in hopes to bring a message of encouragement to those who deem themselves hopeless. It is her heart's desire that you will be uplifted as you listen to each and every song! "Wendy Lake shows that she has the voice of an angel and a real gift for writing songs with a message. Her sound is similar to that of Amy Grant, and her production quality is of the highest quality. Another thing that makes Lake stand out is her ability to incorporate many musical influences to create her sound. While the songs "Forgiven" and "That's How Much" have a very slick pop sound, the track "Not Ashamed" has the feel of a Shania Twain country rock song... and the song "Overcome" features some rocking guitar work.
