"Morgan says her songs 'feel' right"

I choose songs for my concerts because they are well written. I like the feel of them. That's it said jazz vacalist Wendy Morgan of Evanston. She is speaking about the concert she and fellow faculty member Karl Monstka. Her program promises to be nothing but eclectic. The Chicago native started singing professionally at the age of 17. She went to Los Angeles for about 10 years which she referred to "doing the California Thing" when she returned she developed a one woman caberet show. It was the late 80's and cabaret was heating up in Chicago. I sang at the Racoon Club then Von Freeman invited me to sing with him at The Jazz Festival. She appeared at The Taste of Chicago, did some commercial work and released her CD "Say Wen" in 1996. "There are alot of sad love songs in jazz" she said and I'll sing some but they'll have a swing to them. "I'm definately singing Blue Skies by Irving Berlin. I always have to mix in some positive stuff when I sing" Just what a free spirit would say. - Pioneer Press
