"Dead Earnest Review"

From Dundee, they introduce themselves with a one minute introduction that's lurching drumming, deep bass and staccato guitar riffs which slowly spread their wings and, with barely a pause for breath, hammer down into “Yours Sincerely fate” as the band really hit the ground running and above it all, this accented vocal is utterly distinctive, delivering a heartfelt lyric with conviction and almost angry, while the rhythms crunch and rive, the guitars burn and roar, and while the vocals are a bit upfront in the mix as to make the instrumentation sound a bit more distant than perhaps you might have liked, it is nevertheless a track that's on fire and seriously addictive. “Broken Promises” delivers more of the same only with a faster set of rifle-fire rhythms as the urgent vocals drive into a shouted set of multi-harmony vocal hooks before the lurch returns to the headlong rush of the verses, riffs shimmering and powering out to great effect. Up next is the bizarrely titled “Bear Humping” and this opens with a memorable guitar riff and solid crunching rhythm work as the taut lead vocal delivers an angst-ridden song over the rise and fall of the guitar intensity and the dramatic lurch of the rhythm section, arguably the most commercial track so far. “Pages”, at 4 minutes, is the longest track on the EP but continues what the band have laid down so far, the electricity truly surging through a song that's the most varied so far, taking things down a notch before rising to another heady hook, then hammering out to infinity on a wave of fiery guitar riffs and rock solid drumming, anthemic, hard and yet with a beating heart at its centre. Finally, they deliver the brain-melting roar of death metal-meets-indie that is “We Don't Believe”, more song than effect but a serious rush of adrenaline that's got this monster voiced hook next to the nasally angst of the lead singer on the verses, as the guitars blaze and hammer while the drums and bass knock you squarely around the skull. It's a tad “under-produced” but the effect is truly ear-catching and there's not a less than engaging song amongst them. - Andy Garibaldi

Bio

We Seek Brightness started in June 2011 when original members Chris, Calum, Kieran and Alistair started to jam every weekend in Dundee. It started off as a bit of fun before each member decided they wanted to start a band. After a year of excessive gigging, Alastair decided to leave the band due to work commitments which allowed him to have little time for the band. Since they found a new member (Ross), We Seek Brightness have had the determination and drive to become something successful in the music industry.

If you like catchy guitar hooks, chest-pounding bass and head-bopping drum beats then We Seek Brightness are the band for you. With influences ranging from Twin Atlantic and Biffy Clyro to You Me At Six and A Day To Remember to even The Story So Far and The Wonder Years, these four boys hope to amaze you with their musical talents.

Having played with reputable artists such as Our People Vs Yours, General Fiasco and Our Final Hour, the band have lots of gigging experience as well as in the studio.

In September 2012, the band released their debut EP 'You Can't Finish What You Haven't Started' on iTunes, Spotify and Amazon. The EP was immediately a success within the band's ever-growing fan base. We Seek Brightness are looking to release their debut single 'Sleaze' early 2013.
