We Should Be Spies formed in Chicago during the summer of 2010, as a result of two song writing teams coming together to complete a full band. The group is comprised of Katie Fitzgibbons on lead vocals, Gene Tenuta on Guitars, Christopher Beach on drums, and Erik Fagrelius on bass.
We Should Be Spies are currently recording a six song EP that will be available on their website in March of 2011. The Spies are also planning a CD release party at a Chicago venue to coincide with their March EP release.
The Spies write songs that are undeniably pop rock and born from their midwestern roots, infusing each other´s individual influences. Rock, electronica, reggae, country and jazz can all be found within each song´s layers of instrumentation, painting a sonic landscape with lyrics illuminating the pathway of each song´s musical journey. What makes the Spies work so well together is the trust they share which allows them to be openly creative.
The name, We Should Be Spies, came from a suggestion of what to do on a warm Chicago summer evening. Although espionage may or may not have occurred, the Spies are hard at work recording and playing music.
