Bio
Originally a Latin jazz band formed in 1999 by Russian bassist Andrew Valentine and Cuban timbalero Frank Del Valle in the West End district of Winston-Salem, NC, West End Mambo gradually evolved into a dance band featuring classic salsa and a variety of Latin music styles, including Latin jazz.
Musical director Cesar Oviedo, a graduate of the National Conservatory in Nicaragua, brought professional salsa experience from Miami and Las Vegas, and with saxophonist Steve Blake, an original band member and graduate of the Berklee College of Music, have nurtured the band's capablities to include symphonic performances as well as festivals and dance gigs.
