"Take no Prisoners"

Western Aerial plays rock and roll. . .Straight ahead and take no prisoners.
Using a model that is half modern and half retro (T-Rex's Electric Warrior comes to mind) Western Aerial has already made inroads to radio with their new single "Show Stopper" and were hand selected to represent Portland in front of 18,000 people at Rockfest.

"Western Aerial is going to Rockfest"

August 2003
By Denny Mellor
When most jammers get on stage at Marty's DV8 all purpose Tuesday night showcase we (I mean they!) use the opportunity to show off all of my (I mean their) hottest and most self serving, whammy bar jerking, over played too many note, new distort-o-effect-a-thon screaming instrumental spazz off. A few weeks ago, Marty invited me by to hear a band called Western Aerial, a trio from Portland. I caught guitarist Geoff just before they took stage and he told me that their mission was to perform a set as a dress rehearsal for a battle of the bands to be held at the Roseland the following night hosted by KUFO. The winner will get to open for a national act at this years RockFest. The set they played was hot and smooth probably because they had rehearsed it four or five times earlier that day according to Geoff. The following night's competition was a blast; however, Western Aerial easily stole the trophy and got the gig at RockFest.

"Trouble, booze, sex: These guys 'Want It All'"

Down and dirty — that’s the way Western Aerial likes it, and that’s exactly the kind of swaggering, testosterone-fueled rock and roll the band delivers on its second full-length, “Want It All,” released this month.
The album is an ode to rock’s holy trinity — sex, booze and trouble — kicking off with the turbocharged “Highspeed and Lawless” and charging through gloriously unsubtle numbers like “Want It All,” “Dirty” and “Hell on Wheels.” It’s a nod to rock’s pre-PC outlaw mystique, with tightly written, anthemic songs highlighted by vocalist-guitarist Geoff Metts’ suitably raspy vocals.
Songs like “Sunset Strip” revel in the seediness (and sometimes emptiness) of the rock-’n’-roll lifestyle, unsurprising for a band that’s hellbent on “international stardom and all its sordid trappings,” to quote the band’s own bio.
If you’re looking for emotionally complex material, stay away from the W section of the record store. Western Aerial wants to party like it’s 1984.

"Western Aerial - Pabst"

It seems that with each passing day it becomes harder to find a pure, straightforward rock band. Luckily that is exactly what Western Aerial is: loud, aggressive, in-your-face music with big riffs and even bigger attitude.

Their new album "Want It All" brings it all, delivering straight-up guitar, bass and drum anthems that will get your fist in the air and your head banging to rock with a capitol "R."

"Not afraid to have the balls to rock"

Damn this is good stuff. Lively energetic rock that has you hooked. . . Not afraid to have the balls to rock, Western Aerial fits into a thinly populated category of bands like Supergroup, and Foo Fighters that pushes the music to the breaking point. . .it’s music played by bands like Western Aerial, that should be flooding the
airwaves. - Audio Meatus

"Rock N Roll is back"

The self-titled release by Portland’s Western Aerial is one of those albums that really stick out lyrically,
with songs that have a catchy chorus and aren’t afraid to really rock. The vocals are excellent. . .a radio friendly voice with a leathery edge and rock solid delivery. What I really love the most about this band is their ability to take you back to the old standard of good rock and roll - Crave Magazine

"Western Aerial plays Rock music"

Western Aerial plays Rock music. You can smell the swagger, spilled beer, and trashed hotel rooms all over their 12 song debut, which mixes the crunchy sleazy bravado of a band that fully embraces the trappings and excess of rock stardom. The first single "Rip City" is a Grand Funk Railroad meets Mott the Hoople ode to P-town that ironically sounds like it was born from one of the flyovers. - The Willamette Week

Discography

"Rock 'n' Roll Is Always In Fashion", the forthcoming release from Rip City's own Western Aerial is a testament to just that, that rock 'n' roll is not out of fashion - it's alive and well as always.

Some will ask who Western Aerial is. Others are already converts to their brand of rock, which has drawn comparisons to Buckcherry, Velvet Revolver, AC/DC, and Foo Fighters. And, some will ask, "Is Western Aerial the band from the Blazers' games?"

The answer to the latter is YES.

Western Aerial, commissioned by the Blazers' organization to cover The Who's "Baba O'Reilly", were seen throughout the Blazers' hometown games on the Jumbotron performing their rendition of the classic hit. You may have also seen Western Aerial in a Blazers’ commercial on KGW that aired throughout the season, promoting attendance to the Blazers' hometown games.

Riding on the wave of success and rise in attendance through the support of the Blazers, Western Aerial recorded "Rock 'N' Roll Is Always In Fashion".

Featuring three songs - "There You Go", "Down", and "I've Got a Van" - Western Aerial's forthcoming CD is a throwback to era of 45s, with a band
choosing to release a few choice singles instead of a full-length album.

"We decided to do a series of singles that we'll later compile into an album, which allows us to get new music out more often and keep it fresh," says vocalist/guitarist Geoff Metts on the band's decision to revitalize the glory days of singles. "This way we're not mired down with having to record 15 or 20 songs at once. The industry is changing so rapidly, at this point we can do whatever we want so why not take it in a retro direction. It's sort of an old-thing-new-again; we’re adapting the old format of albums being a series of separate recordings to fit what’s possible now. And making sure we offer value and excitement to our fans because of it."
