"A New Sound From West Mary"

Sometimes the easiest way to create great music is to keep it simple.
That's what the two-man band West Mary does by fusing acoustic blues with the
heart-wrenching sound of bluegrass to create a unique folk blend. Henry and Lowry create an unparalleled sound that appeals to fans of various genres.
- Daily Athanaeum, Morgantown WV

"West Mary: the band to feed your soul"

"West Mary's music is revolutionary. It's unique way of blending several different styles, while not copying anyone and still true to themselves is brilliant. The way they feed off each other's energy is erotic. The way they allow us to be apart of thier music is euphoric. If i could i would bottle them up and sell it on the black market. Well, maybe not the black market, but you get the idea." - The KaySeeAn: The Student Voice of King College

"West Mary"

Ben Henry and Ben Lowry are West Mary, a tight-knit group playing an eclectic blend of southern rock, blues, and folk with some down home bluegrass thrown into the mix. The past few years they have been hard at work touring the East Coast, playing many different venues, and putting in the requisite sweat equity. West Mary is one of those musical releases that improves with each listen. The music is thoughtful without being pretentious. - Cosmik Debris.com

"West Mary Records Acoustic EP"

They basically tossed aside any expectations by combining folk, blues, mountain rock, and roots rock for a sound they can claim as their own. And boy do they drop their flagpole in the resulting soil, naming it as West Mary country. Often their use of slide guitar and fast picking will set porch rockers on fire so you better watch where you listen to this. - Smother.Net

Bio

West Mary began as a fast, heavy, loud, and very powerful rock trio in the mountains of Tennessee where bluegrass is big and country was born. The reactionary nature of the band produced a very eclectic sound that could not fit any one genre. Upon gaining regional radio play with their first independent release, the band immediately chose to refine their acoustic sound, bringing out the sound of the mountains that loud rock and roll has difficulties conveying. West Mary continued to tour as a duo, playing smaller clubs and coffee shops up and down the east coast and Southeast . By forcing their powerful music into a completely different atmosphere, the duo learned to play with just as much power and intensity quietly and with subtlety.

Now residing in Nashville, West Mary has released their first mostly-acoustic LP “musicisforcrazypeople” which blends elements of bluegrass, folk, jazz, blues, americana, and rock while never sounding completely like any of them. “musicisforcrazypeople” is available for sale at myspace.com/westmary or on the bands website at westmary.com, as well as selected tracks from the album that are streamed for free.
