Weston Burt knows his story may have a familiar beginning, but the 26-year-old singer from Fort Payne, Alabama, hopes his career plays out more like a Great American novel when it’s all said and done. Like so many other aspiring artists that have made their way to Nashville to pursue their dreams, Weston first discovered his love for Country music through the influence of his parents, who introduced the youngster to family favorites like Alabama, Willie Nelson and the iconic Garth Brooks. Weston remembers vividly the pivotal moment when, as a child, he saw Brooks perform on the CMA Awards. “I ran to my room and put on my jeans, an American flag button-up shirt, cowboy boots, my cowboy hat and grabbed my little guitar,” recalls Weston. “I ran back to the living room and just sat there in amazement, watching him perform. I remember turning around and telling my mom, ‘I want to do THAT one day!’”

It would be more than a decade later before Weston made the decision that ultimately set his Country music career in motion, however. In 2006, Weston left Fort Payne and headed south to attend Auburn University. It was there that the college freshman met a handful of like-minded musicians that were eager to form the aspiring singer’s first Country band.

Less than two years later, Weston had released and sold more than 5,000 copies of his debut EP, called Born To Do. He was also playing upwards of 100 high-energy shows each year. Virtually overnight, it seemed, the unknown singer from Fort Payne, Alabama, found himself opening for artists like Clay Walker, Shenandoah and Charlie Robison. In recent months, Weston has also shared the stage with some of the hottest up-and-coming Country acts, including Justin Moore, Corey Smith and David Nail.

As his recently earned degree from Auburn University will prove, Weston is no stranger to dedication and hard work. With a resume that includes work as an electrician, plumber and construction worker, the down-to-earth musician learned a long time ago that a little elbow grease goes a long way. That same sense of determination and work ethic runs in the family, reveals Weston proudly. “My dad has been a huge influence on me, because he’s one of the hardest working men I know,” says Weston. “My mother taught me to be level-headed and treat others with compassion, and my brother taught me to work hard, but do what makes me happy. My whole life my family has had to work extremely hard for what we have.”

With songs about faith and the joys and hardships of the common Southern man, Weston’s life is an accurate reflection of the songs he sings. After signing a production deal with Ramblin’ Music in November 2010, Weston began working with award winning songwriter and producer Cliff Downs. The Alabama singer-songwriter is focused intently on his next project, a full album tentatively titled Round Here. The project is scheduled for a late 2011 or early 2012 release.

Weston says his goal is simple: “To provide music that all ages can enjoy and provide a live show that takes people’s breath away. I love when someone comes up to me and tells me that they enjoy my music or that it has helped them through a tough time. To me, that’s what music is all about – helping others.”
