"Weston James Featured Artist"

" Country with an Edge. That's how Wes describes his music ".

" Country at heart, his many varied and sometimes extreme life experiences have been woven deep in the fabric of his music. Combine that with other musical influences like U2 and Prince the result is a sound that has crossover appeal across all spectrums ".

Weston James, Well what can I say about this gentleman, when I was asked to review his Cd " Country & Weston " I'll admit I knew nothing about the man or his music, so this review stems directly from what I gleaned from listening to the CD. Weston describes his music as "Country with an edge "I beg to differ here I don't see as obtusely Country more Americana based as there's a conflict of styles produced throughout the album, which is primarily Acoustic based .Overall the album is a relatively pleasant listen, Westons voice is certainly distinctive and that along with his clever and intuitive lyrics almost compells you to listen.

His style in my opinion reminds you of Neil Young meets Bruce Springsteen meets Country , not bad company to be compared to I'd say. All the tracks are lyrically sound and performed nicely by Weston , Where the album falls down a little is in the melodies, a few of the tracks sound a little "samey" but for a first Commercial release its a good CD. Certainly one to build on. For me the "Best Track " on the CD was " She Ain't In My Heart " nice Country feel to it and great lyrics.

Would I buy the CD ? Yes I would , Do I reccommend it to others ? most certainly.

If you are looking for an alternative to todays cookie cutter Country then this Album would be a good choice.

As a debut Album Weston I say well done , and I look forward to your 2nd release.

WESTON JAMES BIO

“…Neil Young meets Bruce Springsteen meets Country Music … an excellent alternative to today’s cookie cutter Country.” - Dixie McCorkle, Triple Strand Productions Country Radio.

Somewhere between “hick and hi-rise”, or Country with an “edge” is how Weston James describes his music when asked. Born in Boston and raised in the South, he has always had a love for both the city and country ways of life. His musical leanings, while Country at heart, are also heavily influenced by other genres like rock and alternative rock and have been woven deep into the fabric of his music. From Johnny Cash and Merle haggard, to Elvis, to U2 and even Prince, he has always loved all types of music. It is the mix of both his life experiences and his widely varied musical influences that shaped his own style and the result is a sound that covers a wide spectrum of crossover appeal.

After serving over eleven years as an Officer in the US Army, he landed in New York City where he says his own music was born, and also where his songwriting career began. It wasn’t long however before he realized that something had turned on the “songwriting” switch inside him and with the encouragement of those that heard his music, he decided to move to Nashville, TN so he could learn the craft of songwriting and pursue music as his profession. In less than a year after his arrival in Music City, Wes released his debut CD entitled, “Country & Weston.” He says that the CD is a little rock, a lot of Country, but 100% all Weston.

He is a frequent performer at many of the Writers’ Nights at various clubs around Nashville and also some of the live music venues in New York.

He was a finalist in the 2009 CMT Music City Madness Songwriter Competition for his song Jose, Jack, and Jim. That news came one year to the day of his move to Nashville. He has also been recognized by the Independent Singer/Song Writer Association as well.

Weston James is a SESAC affiliated songwriter, and a member of both the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) and the Country Music Association (CMA).
