Biography

WESTON JAMES BIO

“…Neil Young meets Bruce Springsteen meets Country Music … an excellent alternative to today’s cookie cutter Country.” - Dixie McCorkle, Triple Strand Productions Country Radio.

Somewhere between “hick and hi-rise”, or Country with an “edge” is how Weston James describes his music when asked. Born in Boston and raised in the South, he has always had a love for both the city and country ways of life. His musical leanings, while Country at heart, are also heavily influenced by other genres like rock and alternative rock and have been woven deep into the fabric of his music. From Johnny Cash and Merle haggard, to Elvis, to U2 and even Prince, he has always loved all types of music. It is the mix of both his life experiences and his widely varied musical influences that shaped his own style and the result is a sound that covers a wide spectrum of crossover appeal.

After serving over eleven years as an Officer in the US Army, he landed in New York City where he says his own music was born, and also where his songwriting career began. It wasn’t long however before he realized that something had turned on the “songwriting” switch inside him and with the encouragement of those that heard his music, he decided to move to Nashville, TN so he could learn the craft of songwriting and pursue music as his profession. In less than a year after his arrival in Music City, Wes released his debut CD entitled, “Country & Weston.” He says that the CD is a little rock, a lot of Country, but 100% all Weston.

He is a frequent performer at many of the Writers’ Nights at various clubs around Nashville and also some of the live music venues in New York.

He was a finalist in the 2009 CMT Music City Madness Songwriter Competition for his song Jose, Jack, and Jim. That news came one year to the day of his move to Nashville. He has also been recognized by the Independent Singer/Song Writer Association as well.

Weston James is a SESAC affiliated songwriter, and a member of both the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) and the Country Music Association (CMA).

Words and Music by Weston James (BMI)

VERSE I
I like 'em corn fed and southern fried
Finger licking good like sweet cherry pie
Hell I like 'em all, but they gotta be Country
They gotta love Skynard and pick-up trucks
Ice cold beer they gotta love to ....
Y'all know what I mean, but they gotta be Country

CHORUS
Yeah Country girls, damn they're hot
Ing cut-off jeans and a halter top
Belly-button ring and a tattoo in the small of their back
They like raisin' hell on a Friday nite
Country girls yeah they can go all night
Yeah that's alright, but they gotta be Country

VERSE II
From Tallahassee out to Abilene
Richmond, Virginia down to New Orleans
Hey from anywhere at all, just as long as it's Country
A Southern Bell that mama likes
But she can love ya like a devil on Saturday nites
Yea til the day I die, they gotta be Country

REPEAT CHORUS

BRIDGE- MUSICAL

REPEAT CHORUS

TAG
I like 'em short or small, but they gotta be Country
I love em big or tall, but they gotta be Country

And I'm running around, all over town, just trying to find
Some kind of sign, some peace of mind, of where you might be

Remembering what you said, this was the last time

Lyrics

VERSE I

White stones in perfect rows set against a verdant background
Marking where those heroes lie who heard the call
Silent in repose, they lie stately and serene
Testaments to valor few will ever see

CHORUS

What an honor to share this ground with these so worthy few
What an honor in your legion now having made the sacrifice like you
What an honor to bear this flag, as our funeral pall
What an honor, at peace at last knowing we gave all

VERSE II
With thanks of a grateful nation, they gave her my nation's shroud
As bugles wept in the distance, and rifles fired as I was lowered down
Please my love don't mourn me now for I am truly free
Peace has come and I can rest. I'm honored that you loved me

CHORUS

What an honor to share this ground with these so worthy few
What an honor in your legion now having made the sacrifice like you
What an honor to bear this flag, as our funeral pall
What an honor, at peace at last knowing we gave all

TAG

What an honor to bear this flag, and hear the bugle's final call
What an honor, at peace at last knowing, knowing, we gave all

VERSE I
I was up on top of the roof all night, just barking at the moon
A couple of buddies stopped by, just to see what they could do
To help me try to find a way to forget about you

LIFT
Cause that's what friends'll do
Thank God for my three friends...

CHORUS
Jose, Jack and Jim, friendship in a bottle
Jose, Jack and Jim, help forget your sorrows
Jose, Jack and Jim, at least until tomorrow
When I sober up!

VERSE II
It was me, and three hundred proof that's right, talking trash about you
We were having a real good time, talking 'bout the things you do
To try to make me cry, and what you put me through

LIFT
Cause that's what friends'll do
Yeah me and my three best friends....

REPEAT CHORUS

BRIDGE
It's a funny thing, being friends with bottles
They make you feel real good tonite, but not tomorrow

REPEAT CHORUS

VERSE I

She's like an ice cold slice of watermelon on the hottest day in the middle of July
Whoa, whoa, whoa She's got it going on
There ain't a minute of a day goes by, without some thought of her crossing my mind
Whoa Whoa Whoa, she really turns me on

LIFT

And I can't wait til the 5 o'clock bell that's when I get to see my baby
Run out to my truck and drive like hell, cause I know she'll be waiting for me.....

CHORUS

On her front porch in sexy little t-shirt, showing just enough tan line to make me wanna
Bark like a dog and howl at the moon, I'm so crazy for her
There ain't anyone I could love better, I'm hoping and praying she'll say yes to forever
When I get down on one knee, and give her that diamond ring
She really rocks my world, she's a sexy little slice of sweet watermelon, my girl!

VERSE II

When I'm with her, I'm a sweepstakes winner, still can't believe I won the first prize
Whoa whoa whoa man ain't it cool?
There ain't anything I wouldn't do, just to get to see her flash those baby blues
Whoa whoa whoa, makes me act just like a fool

LIFT
My heart starts racing as I pull into her driveway
My bay's making me go plumb wild today!

REPEAT CHORUS

BRIDGE

She pulls me close, and she whispers in my ear,
"Baby, I think there's some wild flowers.... that need picking around here!!!

REPEAT CHORUS

TAG

She rocks my world
Yeah she's some kind of girls
She take me for a twirl
She really rocks my world, she's a sexy little slice of sweet watermelon my girl!

Caught Somewhere Between

Caught Somewhere Between

Words and Music By Weston James?

??Somedays, I think I’m getting closer, to getting over you
Somedays, I don’t know where I’m at
Somedays, I say to myself, “I’m glad it’s over.”
Ah, but somedays, I’m wanting you back,

And I am really glad it’s over and I don’t know what to do
I’ve finally discovered, I’m caught between what I want, and what I ought to do
Caught somewhere between being glad it’s over, and can’t get over you

One day, I thought I saw you pass by me, on the street
I even thought I caught a glimpse of your perfume
Last week, I thought I heard you laughing down the hallway
Ah, but I knew, I knew it couldn’t be you

REPEAT CHORUS

I suppose I should just admit the truth
That I, I’m still in love with you!

REPEAT CHORUS

Caught somewhere between being glad it’s over, and can’t get over you!

I thought I was getting closer.........

Love You Down

Written By: Weston James

Love You Down
(c) Weston James Music

I've been thinking 'bout you all day long baby
Can't seem to get you off of my mind at all baby
I was thinking maybe later on, that
We could get together, you and me alone
With the lights down low, we'll put some music on, and let me

Love you, all night let me me love you
All night, till the break of dawn
Alright, put my arms around you
Wanna get lost with you and never found
We don't even have to make a sound
Baby, wanna love you, Baby wanna love you down
Wanna love you down

Seems like we've been living different lives baby
Caught up in your world, me wrapped up in mine
Maybe we could take a little time and
Slow it down real slow have a little wine
Clothes on the floor, do a different daily grind, and let me

Love you, all night let me me love you
All night, till the break of dawn
Alright, put my arms around you
Wanna get lost with you and never found
We don't even have to make a sound
Baby wanna love you, Baby wanna love you down
Baby love you down, wanna love you

And when the morning comes, if we ain't done
We'll call in sick, keep the loving going on, and let me

Love you, all night let me me love you
All night, till the break of dawn
Alright, put my arms around you
Wanna get lost with you and never found
We don't even have to make a sound
Oh, we don't even have to make a sound
Baby, wanna love you, Baby wanna love you down

Wanna love you down
