"First Native Headliner at the Imperial Theatre"

“Thunderbird is the first headlining First Nations performer to appear at the Imperial Theatre. We are really pleased to have someone of her caliber. Finding ways to educate people through music and theatre is what makes this inspirational woman tick.”

- Telegraph Journal, Saint John, NB

"Your CD is wonderful"

"Your CD is WONDERFUL! I listened to it all the way home from the 'Thunder' premiere, and yesterday when driving and I love it. It speaks to me in many ways and is very powerful. I was totally absorbed in the music."
- Fan

"Fabulous Music"

"I just want to thank you and Sandy again for such an inspirational and
moving afternoon and evening. Your words, song and drumming left a very positive energy in the museum. Your music is fabulous.
- T Brennan , Dufferin Museum

"Wow, What a Presentation"

"Ms Thunderbird brings a wealth of cultural heritage to her performances. A gifted Speaker, Singer and Storyteller, her messages are original, inspiring and very funny.
The audience was thrilled by her exquisite soprano voice and down-to-earth talk about self-empowerment.
Never have I seen or heard First Nation's culture and spirituality
delivered in a more dynamic way than through the eyes and voice of Shannon Thunderbird." - Toronto Principal

"She's hilarious"

"Shannon said things I needed to hear....I haven't laughed
this hard in years....and I loved playing the drum."
- Western Community College Conference

"Strong Sense of the Spiritual"

"Your sense of the spiritual and regard for our Ancestors was
particularly moving. The young people I talked with following
your presentation were very appreciative. They will benefit much
from your message as they go on to further life experiences."
- Washington Conference

"Wonderful Storyteller"

"Your voice still resonates with me. Telling stories through song brought your Native culture strong to my heart. I've always admired Xanada's Native people and I am honoured to have met such a strong representative." - Nordic Theatre Conference-Sweden

"You are a strong duo"

"Thanks for coming to our Aboriginal Day. You and Sandy make a strong musical pair even though you come from different backgrounds. It seemed to me like you had been singing together forever. The music was great. The traditional songs on the big drums were particularly powerful. Sandy's a helluva bass player!" - Durham College

Bio

West Wind and the Woodlands Sisters is pimarily concert entertainment. We work across Canada and internationally at a variety of different venues: Expo 2005, Japan, Conferences in Sweden, Italy, United States and Germany. International interest in all things Canadian First Nations is what makes us popular.

We combine both traditional and contemporary ORIGINAL music that tell the stories of North America's Indigenous peoples; we use a combination of music and education to promote our cultures. Our main influence is our passion and pride as Native people who want our stories heard in a manner that pleases the Ancestors AND AUDIENCES! That's enough to set us apart, but also we're pretty, very talented and we write great music!
