"Their Album, Our Take"

We Won The Science Fair - From The Basement To You Dear Friends

I realize that summer is almost over but I think you can squeeze one more summer soundtrack in there. In this case, I recommend this Boise, Idaho indie-alternative act. We Won The Science Fair is a delicious blend of catchy hooks and grin inducing lyrics. One can practically hear vocalist Logan Hyde's smile as he winds his way down lyrical paths having to do with love, snobbery, and my personal favorite, ships and pirates. I guarantee that these guys will soon be going from the basement to your i-pod. -JK - Hopecore.com Magazine

"Musical Youth - The young and growing in Boise's music scene"

"When we book shows, we check your Myspace. If it sounds like you recorded in your bathtub, how much effort are you putting into this project?" said Brandt. "I would say that three of the best bands in town these days are My Paper Camera, We Won the Science Fair and Apple Horse. They're three of the hardest-working bands, completely talented and all really young."

Both fellow musicians and a fan following can make Boise an accommodating scene for aspiring musicians. Logan Hyde, founder of We Won The Science Fair, has seen his band flourish despite member turnover and a Mormon mission taking his original bandmate.

"I feel like you get a lot more accepted here, not only because you're locals, but because there's more people willing to listen to different types of bands," said Hyde. Like many local bands, We Won the Science Fair and 3rd to Last got their start playing shows at the Venue, Boise's only all-ages club.

"You kind of have to build your own name before you can even try to play places like the Knitting Factory. The Venue helps out bands so much, letting them play their first show," said Hyde.

Bio

Already over one year strong, We Won The Science Fair has started a new chapter. Founding members Michael Johnson and Logan Hyde started the band in January of 2008 under the name Mike, Logan, and the Computer. Writing acoustic pop ditties and clapping there hands for percussion was all they could do. But passion overwhelmed them and only 2 months after beginning. They realized they needed a full band to fulfill their musical dreams and endeavors.

After a vast search and 2 failed members We Won The Science Fair came across drummer Ukiah Bogle, who's style and mad beats intrigued their drumless mind. They welcomed Ukiah with open arms and continued to play multiple shows, which included playing with Steel Train, Dear and the Headlights, and their favorite band to play with, My Paper Camera, another Boise, Idaho local and close friends.

In November of 2008, Michael decided to spend two years of his life serving a mission in Johannesburg, South Africa. After bidding the team a sorrowful goodbye the remaining two members ran around like headless' turkey, but they knew one thing. They wanted to keep writing songs and continue on the journey.

They have just released their first full length CD, From The Basement To You, Dear Friends. Appearing in Hopecore.com Magazine and the Boise Weekly. They dream of touring full time and playing music for as long as possible.
