BandRockAlternative

The Whalehunters is inspired by the size and glory of the great undersea mammals; whales. We find ourselves delving into a wide range of musical styles such as country, surf, psychedelic, metal, sludge... Our influences include Frank Black, Pink Floyd, The Ventures, Melvins, The Doors, and more.

Biography

In 2000, The Whalehunters formed with Jason Gladue on guitar and vocals, and Nathan Funk on drums as an experimental improv group using a backdrop of whale sound recordings. We played a couple of shows at the Columbia and then found ourselves on a hiatus for 2 years.
The Whalehunters reunited for a live studio album with renowned sax man Masa. In early 2006 The Whalehunters reformed with a new approach and a new line up which included Jason Tucker Doud on guitar. Since then the trio has recorded a 4 song demo CD engineered by Tucker and has added another 5 songs to our sonic harpoon arsenal. The group is currently looking towards a late March live debut and from there; an intergalactic tour... ?
