Whaleskin (aka Willow Bell) is a name that has been kicking about the east coast electronic music festival scene for a couple of years now and though I had heard some music of his, the thirst is still apparent in my search for more. It wasn’t until I hit him up about an exclusive that I was able to unearth this rough gem.
Tropical nudisco mixed with retro disco/electro make this music both nostalgic but shimmering with an eclectic energy, the dude needs to release a new EP, it’s been far too long!

Whaleskin (Willow Bell) is a rising electropop music producer, remixer, composer and DJ from Atlantic Canada. A native of Prince Edward Island, Bell is a multi-instrumentalist who has been passionately playing and creating music from the age of twelve. Since 2011, Whaleskin's signature brand of songwriting has remained decidedly chic and undeniably timeless, thanks to Bell's ear for glossy melodies. Now, Whaleskin is at the forefront of the East Coast's burgeoning electronic music scene. His live performances, equal parts sweat, energy and hypnosis, are in demand everywhere from private beach parties to noteworthy festivals such as Evolve and East Coast Music Week.
With roots in funk and pop, each set beckons like it is a transmission from the cassette desk on a Ferrari red joyride down the Pacific Coast Highway or the late night stream from a lipstick-stained Ibiza summer after-party. Moreover, this spirit is captured on the TGIF Mixtapes, released weekly through whaleskin.ca. Whaleskin has also turned heads with lush remixes that dutifully compliment a spectrum of recordings, including collaborations with Yumi Zouma, Paper Lions, Coyote, and Vogue Dots.
No matter what, Whaleskin is about joy and taste; about being infectious and innovative. This is music that keeps dance floors alive, both in clubs and living rooms. As he currently prepares his first release of original material, it is clear that Whaleskin's musical journey has only just begun.
