Bio

Emmet formed the band almost 4 years ago in Galway, Ireland with a vision of bringing his songs to a wider audience. Through a series of good luck and coincidence, he put together a band of multi-cultural style and background. Working as a group, they have created quite a unique and defining sound!

They released a debut EP in early 2006. A number of key events have occurred to propel them to where the currently stand.
After hearing the EP, Damien Rice invited the band to play his stage at the 'Electric Picnic' and since then they have been selling out their show's Country wide, and are a festival favourite.
2 of the songs from the Forthcoming debut album were used by Irish director, Brian Deane in the film 'Without Words'.
The film has appeared in all the major Irish Film Festivals and has gone to win in the online film festival Babelgum where it was selected by renowned director Spike Lee.
Emmet is currently working with Brian on the next project.
The band were also the only Irish Act to be selected for the '20th International Folk Music Festival' in Memphis in Feb.
The played 12 showcases in 4 days to Festival promoters, record labels ans radio DJ's. A number of festival opportunities in the US and Canada have come from this.
The band have also toured America and Ireland with the Saw Doctors.
Of their debut EP, the band have sold 5000+ copies! Not bad for vagrant sales out of the back of a van!

The Album is set for release in October 2008 and is currently being mixed in London by Mark Wallis.

"Galway-based Emmet Scanlan and his four-piece band
have a fine 4-track CD with all original Scanlan songs
marrying Irish folk with Americana and bluegrass
touches. The blend of Irish, Italian, Swedish and
Scottish musicians gives the loose band sound a
uniqueness that sets it apart, and Scanlan's
expressive vocals carry the songs off with aplomb.

It really comes together on 'You Know Who Knows', with
its plaintive fiddle playing and percussive backing.
'The Great Unknown' is another gem, with Scanlan's
voice in full command and the band providing a
suitably evocative soundscape. 'Hands' is a longer
workout that allows the band to blossom and flower. If
you need a Waterboys for the third millennium, look no
further." Jackie Hayden (who signed U2 to there first record deal)- Hotpress
