Wherein Lies Defeat

Wherein Lies Defeat was formed in August, 2007. The first members were Justin Lawhorne on guitar, Steven Christian on guitar, John Christian on drums, Ryan Johnston on bass guitar, and Patrick Turner as vocals. We immediately began to write material, and got along very well. We all shared similar interests in music, aspiring bands such as Lamb of God, Shadows Fall, August Burns Red, Unearth, As I Lay Dying, etc. During the summer of 2008, Justin Lawhorne and Ryan Johnston left the band. Soon after, Alex Beller took over on bass, and Patrick took over on guitar. Without a vocalist, we put posts on Myspace and Facebook saying we were in need of a vocalist. Soon after, Nick Larry responded. We began practicing together, and we once again meshed as a band. We scrapped most of our old material, and moved to a new sound. Sharing the same influences as before, writing came easily. We played several shows at Jaxx nightclub in Springfield Va, and Sonar in baltimore. In november of 2009, Nick moved, leaving us without a vocalist once again. We continued to write, even without a vocalist. Then, our close friend Matt Martinez said he'd fill in on vocals. Since then, we have continued to write new material, and are currently recording.
