Biography

Formed in 2009, Whiskey Bros. brings together traditional singer-songwriter storytelling and song structure within the confines of a modern rock n’ roll band. The four-piece unit, based out of Richmond, VA is currently hard at work on their debut album, which features songs that run a gamut of themes including love, loss, death, and devotion.
Lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Steve Snider and lead guitarist Ryan Colton found the perfect complement in drummer Alex Mancia and bassist Justin Willcox. Justin’s melodic bass lines ebb and flow perfectly with Steve’s stylized lyrics and chord pairings, while Alex’s percussion work not only provides a solid backbone to the songs but also imparts vibrant flourishes that accent Ryan’s country/rock-inspired lead lines. While sometimes lyrically intense in subject matter, Whiskey Bros.’ original compositions shuffle and swing with fervor, harkening back to the roots of first generation indie-rock and 60’s era country and rhythm & blues. Like a good mixed drink the concoction of musical styles and influences, which range from such diverse groups as Modest Mouse, Tom Petty, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Death Cab For Cutie add up to a unique listening experience that is both easily digestible and highly addictive.
Whiskey Bros. has quickly gained notoriety in Central Virginia after securing a slot at the 2010 Carytown Watermelon Festival as well as being the main support act for former Wailer/current Kenny Chesney percussionist Drummie Zeb at the National Theater in Richmond. They have played a variety of other local venues including Cary St. Café, Legend Brewing Co. and The Pour House. Whiskey Bros. plans to deliver their debut album in early 2011 followed by a release party at a local venue. They are hoping to branch out into other surrounding markets as well as focus on the growing internet fanbase that they have accumulated by networking on sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and their own independently produced site – www.whiskeybros.co.cc

Lyrics

Mike's A Fool

Written By: Steve Snider

Hey there dark hair,
Tell me a story all about you,
How bout the one when you feel in love,
With the boy who didn't have a clue.
Or the one where you got so drunk,
You walked the whole night through,
Called your friends said hey man,
I'm in need of a rescue.

Love will break you in two,
Through you right across the room,
I know one thing's true,
That boy Mike is a fool.

When God made you,
Musta broke his heart to turn you loose,
Knowing that boy you met in the eastern sunset,
would only betray you.
So sink back and think the day away,
Problems are solutions with clever names,
Turn your mind off except for one thing,
The day he turned you loose.

Love will break you in two,
Through you right across the room,
I know one thing's true,
That boy Mike is a fool.

That boy Mike is such a fool,
For letting you slip through,
Yeah Mike is a fool,
For letting go of a girl like you...

Floor

Written By: Steve Snider

Where I go,
I want you to be,
Just tell me lies,
I could be happy.
In the ocean,
Of a queen,
Pull these thoughts out,
Set me free.

And I don't even know
Where to stand anymore,
Falling through the cracks,
Of the floor.
And I don't even know,
Where to stand anymore,
Falling through the cracks,
Of the floor.

In the calm,
She comes to me,
Brings the fulfillment,
Of being empty.
Never leaves never stays,
Just strangely appears,
When I call out her name.

And I don't even know
Where to stand anymore,
Falling through the cracks,
Of the floor.
And I don't even know,
Where to stand anymore,
Falling through the cracks,
Of the floor.

In the Heat

Written By: Steve Snider

I sit alone,
In a basement filled with gold,
Still I know,
All of this don't mean a damn,
An' you don't see,
What you have done to me,
An' my next play,
Could be the end of me today.

So darlin don't cry,
A tear for me tonight,
Cause I know this is gonna be alright.
Someday I'll show,
You what you mean to me,
In the heat of her love...

Left you tonight,
In the curtain of moonlight,
You looked so,
Like there was something I should have said or done,
But my fears,
Got the best of what I had,
So I'll go,
To my basement filled with gold.

So darlin don't cry,
A tear for me tonight,
Cause I know this is gonna be alright.
Someday I'll show,
You what you mean to me,
In the heat of her love.

Dialect

Written By: Steve Snider

Meet me at the city limit,
Where the sky turns to gray,
We can share a quick exchange,
Keep that secret to our grave.
Fumble through my whole life,
Until today,
Can I steal your innocent stare,
My soul needs it in a bad way.

I can see it in your eyes,
It's the same look I've been waiting for,
Go on and speak, free your mind,
You may find it's the same dialect as mine.

This round is worth taking time,
I'd crawl through fire to get to you,
Just to hear your voice for the night,
or simply a moment.
It's like a cry answered through a prayer,
So subtle and soulful,
I'll just be bidding my time,
Hoping that you notice.

I can see it in your eyes,
It's the same look I've been waiting for,
Go on speak, free your mind,
You may find it's the same dialect as mine.

Bear

Written By: Steve Snider

She just needs something good,
In her world filled with struggle.
To find the switch in this lonely house,
Shed some light on her room.
She calls at the break of sight,
Uses words like "lost" and "broken"
Never used to talk this way
Like the world has turned its back and walked away

Hey little bear where have you been,
Has the weight of the world crushed your shoulders?
Take a breathe now, look around, see we're all just floating round.
Hey little bear where have you been,
Have your demons caught up to you again?
Just take a breathe now, look around, see we're all just floating, floating round.

Will she see the light of day,
As the storm settles and the path is rearranged?
climb onto another plain,
see the struggle made her what she is today.

Hey little bear where have you been,
Has the weight of the world crushed your shoulders?
Take a breathe now, look around, see we're all just floating round.
Hey little bear where have you been?
Have your demons caught up to you again?
Just take a breathe now, look around, see we're all just floating, floating round.

She just needs something good,
In her world filled with struggle.
To find the switch in this lonely house,
Shed some light on her room.
She calls at the break of sight,
Uses words like "lost" and "broken"
Never used to talk this way
Like the the world has turned its back and walked away

Hey little bear where have you been,
Has the weight of the world crushed your shoulders?
Take a breathe now, look around, see we're all just floating round.
Hey little bear where have you been?
Have your demons caught up to you again?
Just take a breathe now, look around, see we're all just floating, floating round.

Girl on the Side

Written By: Steve Snider

There's a doorway at the end of the hall,
It'll lead you down to my soul.
There's a Fender Strat and an old drum set,
and a P-Bass waiting there.
When the boys come over it'll feel like a home,
We'll play until our fingers are numb.
Singing song about girls and whiskey and drugs,
Cause that's the only way we know.

So darlin' there's no other woman her,
That can make me feel like you do,
Just an old guitar and an amplifier,
to get me through.

My best friend is made of wood and love,
He'll get me through the worst of it.
No he don't care if I'm only here,
To use him up like a drug.
We've known each other since the begining of time,
We've seen it all and commited our own crimes.
But at the end of the day when you're away,
Me and him will be up playing all night long.

So darlin' there's no other woman her,
That can make me feel like you do,
Just an old guitar and an amplifier,
to get me through.
So darlin' there's no other woman her,
That can make me feel like you do,
Just an old guitar and an amplifier,
to get me through.
