Whiskey Business is a new, up and coming band that features Matt Patt on Bass, Aaron Riddle on Guitar, Jake Warzyniak on Drums and Front Man Jeff Shepherd on Guitar and Lead Vocals. The groups' style is a mixture of rock and roll, punk and alternative and these four guys play nothing but original music. "Me and Matt write the Lyrics," said Jeff Sheperd. "And we write about things like work, family, and growing up in the area."

Jeff and Matt grew up in Culver, Indiana but moved to the region for work. That's where they guys met Aaron and Jake, and before long, Whiskey Business was born. "The name of our band is a play off of what we all like to drink and the movie Risky Business," said Jeff.

Whiskey Business has been around for a year half, and have played (and continue to play) at several big cities throughout the Midwest. "We play Chicago, Indianapolis, Detroit, Grand Rapids, and all over Northwest Indiana," said Jeff. "We play at Pick-Ups in Lynwood a couple of times a month."

These mid-twenty buddies get together at least once a week to practice, and look forward to those jam sessions as all four have full-time jobs. As they look ahead to the summer months, and possibilities for performing at festivals and other outside venues, they are excited to pursue their next venture – time in the recording studio. "We are going back into the studio on June 17th to record our next record," explained Jeff. "But this will be our first full length album."

Whiskey Business already has five songs recorded, but plan on lying down about 10-15 tracks on this new album later this month. When asked about the name of the album, Jeff said it will likely be self titled and should drop late this summer. The songs will be available for download through itunes, and Matt is looking forward to having more music available for their fans. "We were put on a compilation through Black Hole Records called Cashing in on Christmas, Volume 3," said Matt Patt. "We were also put on a compilation through godiyrecords.com. That was released earlier this month."

The song on that compilation, "Passerby" is a fan favorite, and it's one played frequently at their shows. So what can you expect at a Whiskey Business show. Well, it depends on the venue. "We are a high energy, loud and aggressive band," said Jeff. "We can get people up and dancing or if we are playing at smaller, lower key bars, then we play our quieter songs. We have a good mix of songs, so we can play to any crowd."

The biggest crowd Whiskey Business has played for was last fall when they opened for the Misfits at Mo Joes in Joliet. They are not sure what big gigs they'll be doing this summer as they are concentrating all their energy right now on their new album. They are planning a show on July 28th at the Warehouse in Valparaiso and who knows, it could turn into a pre-release party. For now, we'll just have to wait until Whiskey Business makes the big announcement as to when their CD will be available.
