The month of July 2009 was a ground breaking month for the Denver based Bluegrass/Jam band Whiskey Tango. The original three members (Nate Todd, Ryan Hall and Bill Wells) were introduced to a three piece string band (Matt Gallagher, Zac Steinman and Luke Kennedy). The instant connection and passion for music can be seen on stage through immaculate coordination and seamless transitions through jam-band based sets.
Since becoming a regular act at Quixotes in Denver hosting Bluegrass Tuesdays, the band has become a local favorite. Whiskey Tango has also been traveling to Fort Collins and Boulder to perform at local venues.
Though all members in the band are multi-instrumentalists the lineup and stage set up has remained constant since they first started. On the drums, it is Luke Kennedy who adds the rock and roll sound to Whiskey Tango’s songs. Working hand in hand with Luke is Bill Wells on bass. Together they hold the rhythm during the structured and unstructured jams the band plays. Many of the original songs are written and sung by the multi-talented keyboardist Nate Todd. Ryan Hall on mandolin is the other lead vocalist, backing Nate in many of his songs while also singing many originals of his own. Zac Steinman maintains the tempo on acoustic guitar and exchanges lead solos with the other members of the band. Matt Gallagher on the electric banjo is defiantly a sight to behold and he alone is worth the admission price. The bands live performance has become their staple and they are a band to watch for in the future.
