White Ocean has its trademark in the main vocal that is dark and atmospheric and sucks you in combined with excellent storytelling/ lyrics, undermined by gripping and emotional melodies. The music is “cut down to the bone”, but at the same time energetic and powerful. The understated music makes space for a lyrical textuniverse about flawed characters and twisted fates.
white ocean is a danish based folkrockband with joy to tell stories and desires (sig til om det er godt ord at bruge) to live out the unique energi of their music.
?Meating Nagell in 2009 Jesper Dyhrberg was immediately drawn to the alluring universe and together they started rearranging songs, songs that during the last 5 years had been written through sickness and adventure by norwegian songwriter Nagell. They were to become the cornerstone for white ocean. With new member guitar player Jesper Jung, they now have become a the trio white ocean playing both sensible and flourishing energetic folkrock.
The band is influenced by artists as Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits and Nick Cave as well as wild Norwegian nature and the haunting sea.
White Ocean has been rehearsing intense and played many concerts in hometown of Copenhagen, which have resulted in an upcoming EP; to the river and out to sea, autumn 2011.
