The 14-year-old singer-songwriter, gymnast, and social media star released her debut EP today. The EP entitled, ‘Disappear’, includes 6 new songs created from the young mind of this older soul. Produced by Grammy Award winner, Philip Mayer at Full Moon Studios in Athens, Georgia, Disappear’s songs provide insight into how this accomplished child feels about life and the challenges she faces every day.
Whitney wrote the words and melodies of the songs in 2018, but because of her busy schedule, it took almost all of 2019 to get the songs recorded and produced. In fact, Whitney’s song, “All These Goodbyes” was inspired by her busy life and the sadness of being away from her sister so often. Being a fulltime student and competitive gymnast doesn’t leave much time for anything else, so don’t expect a tour anytime soon…but then again, you never know.
In addition to “All These Goodbyes”, the EP includes songs called “Bully”, “Clouds”, “Disappear”, “Let Go”, and “Lullaby”. Since Whitney is a YouTuber with over one million subscribers, she plans to make music videos for each of the tracks. The official music video for “Clouds” is posted on YouTube today!
“Whitney wrote some really great songs, which makes the business of producing them a lot of fun,” said Jay Rodgers, who is the owner of Full Moon Studios in Athens, Georgia. Disappear’s producer, Phillip Mayer, stated, “I don’t typically have the opportunity to work with 14-year-olds as singer-songwriters. I was very impressed with Whitney’s musical instincts and her professionalism in the studio.”
(about Whitney) Whitney Bjerken is a freshman at the Bridgeway Academy homeschool program. She is a member of the Level 10 gymnastics team at Georgia Elite Gymnastics in Athens, GA. Whitney has a large following on social media where her 1.2 million YouTube subscribers can keep up with her latest gymnastics and music career developments. When Whitney is not training or competing in gymnastics, she lives with her family in metro Atlanta, GA
