"Shoes for the Homless"

Local Youth Band to stage benefit concert in Barrie with proceeds to an area Homeless program

Who Needs Shoes, a local Barrie rock band will be staging a benefit concert to raise money and awareness for the Homeless. The concert will take place at The Foundation Nightclub in Barrie on Tuesday December 21st starting at 7pm. Tickets will be $7 at the door with a toonie from each ticket going to the charity. Non-perishable food items will also be accepted at the door. Joining Who Needs Shoes will be another local band called, “Makeshift Memory“ along with Faethon and Future’s Past from Toronto.

Who Needs Shoes have come straight out of the Barrie Ontario punk scene and are popular playing shows wherever and whenever they can. One of our upcoming performances will be one of the main act for the Edge 102 Indie show at the Steamwhistle in Toronto and a benefit concert called “Shoes for the Homeless” at the Foundation Nightclub, At “all ages shows” the Band have been creating quite a buzz with audiences of approximately 250 to 300 people.

They have played with bands such as: GOB, The Marble Index, The Waking Eyes, Winter Sleep, Fallen Year, Wheels On The Bus, Boys Night Out, Fight Like Gentlemen (@ the Foundation). We have played the Opera House on Queen St as well as the Kathedral.

Who Needs Shoes currently have a repertoire of 15 original songs.
WNS are under the Stout Label with The Stoutcompany Concepts-Promotion-Management. SOCAN registered.

In 2005, after the re-entry of Kyle Irwin (drums), Who Needs Shoes began to work relentlessly at creating a larger fan base for themselves in surrounding areas (such as Orillia, Toronto, London, Peterborough, Sudbury, etc.)

Now, with 2006 on the horizon, the band continues to connect with more and more people, and they are working as hard as ever to give themselves a name on the Canadian music scene.
