Whose Muddy Shoes

BandBluesWorld

Formed in the early '90's Whose Muddy Shoes went from playing local Wollongong blues haunts to supporting the likes of top U.S bluesmen John Hammond Jr and Charlie Musselwhite, and on to playing several Byron Bay Blues Festivals and breaking into the competitive Sydney blues world.

Biography

The Illawarra’s most successful rhythm and blues band to date, Whose Muddy Shoes were formed by core members Ewan Somerville (vocals/harmonica), Jeremy Edwards (guitar/vocals) and Richard Steele (guitar/slide guitar).

The band has two things that set them apart from most of their contemporaries. They write great songs and…they can swing!

The raw Chicago influences in Sommerville’s vocals and harp are the perfect foil for the exciting twin guitar attack of Edwards and Steele. Steele’s country blues history and fiery slide work leave the door open for Edwards’ slicker R&B and Ronnie Earl leanings.

The Muddy Shoes front men have always been impeccably backed by great rhythm sections. From original members Peter Ready (drums) and Justin Gross (bass) to long time member George Brugmans (drums) with bass players Ben Edwards, Dave Harding and Andrew Rankin, they move seamlessly between funky R&B to dirty Chicago blues and into burning, up tempo, West Coast swing.

With a brand new record, 2010 will see one of the country’s finest ever blues outfits re-vamped, re-vibed and burning up on re-entry!
Here comes Whose Muddy Shoes!
