Jay Z has a song called “A Star Is Born” and the message behind that song is someone can make it in life as long they keep going on the road ahead of them. For Ezra “WhoThat” Hightower that journey starts this year. Hightower is currently attending St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley studying General Education. He wants to pursue a career in Theatre, Marketing and Music.

“and I put my all into it I put my emotions into it, it meant something to me because I was suffering and while I’m suffering for God these songs are for him.”

Hightower creates gospel music and in his music he pours his soul into it. The lyrics in his song I Never Lost My Praise detail specific hardships he went through during his life. Hightower recalls a specific conversation he had with someone before actually deciding to make music he says, “Somebody told me why not give God honor in whatever you do?” This conversation sparked motivation in the mind of Hightower and propelled him to create more music honoring God. Hightower speaks on the story behind his music and what he endured while creating his music he says, “I did a severe fast and the two songs that I got on YouTube, I recorded those during the severe fast,” he continues on, “and I put my all into it I put my emotions into it, it meant something to me because I was suffering and while I’m suffering for God these songs are for him.”

Through the gospel music Hightower can share his testimony through singing and rapping. For Hightower, it is more than just a beat and a catchy hook. Lyrically speaking his music gives a candid look into what Hightower went through in his life and how he is living for God.

Bio

Born and raised in south side Saint Louis. Lived in Kansas City for two years and moved back to Saint Louis. College student.  Accepted Christ as my personal savior at age 13. Didn’t grow a relationship with Christ until age 21. I wasn’t liberated until age 23. I have lived decades of experiences and lessons and hardships in just two. You name it I’ve lived it, done it, or seen with my own eyes. I live and tell an extraordinary testimony as an extraordinary vessel who serves an extraordinary God.
