"Whut 4 Unsigned Artist Of the Month"

Whut 4's addictively dirty cover of the Archies "Sugar Sugar" conjures images too explicit to publish here - and what a wonderful corruption of the saccharine original it is. Other tracks bring to mind the classy, acid jazz of "History Repeating" by Shirley bassey and the Propellerheads, as well as the uber-sophisticated sexuality of Shirley's classic James Bond themes. Singer Chezere's rich vocals soar over the rocking electronic grooves, synth bass, and other keyboard ear candy created by programmer and sound designer Dave Polich. And with lyrics like "Eeny, meeny, miny,moe/ Catch a hipster by the toe", much of Whut 4's material strikes the perfect balance between trashy pop, sinful cynicism,
powerful execution, and tight musicianship. - Keyboard Magazine, October 2007

Bio

The band's cover of "Sugar Sugar", the old Archies hit, sounds like what would have happened if Marilyn manson, Garbage, and PJ Harvey got together to rework the song.
Zeppelin style hard rock beats, slashing guitars, electronic ear candy, samples, turntable efx and powerful female vocals characterize Whut 4's sound. A stellar review of the band's debut CD in Keyboard magazine described the sound as recalling Shirley Bassey with the Propellerheads and that's an apt description. Whut 4 shares more in common with alternative bands from the UK (not surprising, since the vocalist, Chezere, is from the UK). This is intelligent alternative rock with soul, clever twists, danceable grooves and sonic adventure.
