With an aptitude to seamlessly combine their musical gifts, WhYnVy will indeed captivate audiences and become the new face and sound among urban hip hop duo's. WhYnVy (pronounced “Why Envy”) is a group consisting of two powerful hip-hop forces, Yhaki "Yhakavich" Belvin and Ruben "Vanz" Switzer. Comparable to UGK, Outcast, Boosie and Webbie collaborations; WhYnVy music will be associated with the upper echelons of Hip Hip legendary duo's.
Raised in the suburbs of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Vanz grandmother exposed him to a diverse collection of music from classical to funk . He was also abundantly influenced by his Uncle a local Disc Jockey, and by age 13, Vanz learned how to use melody, rhythm, and words to create his own sound. In conclusion, his ear for music and receptiveness enabled him to develop a southern rap style that adds a unique source of flavor to WhynVy.
Born in Berlin, Germany, Yhaki family eventually settled in Ocala, Florida. Throughout his childhood he loved listening to music, but he did not distinguished his gift for writing until after playfully taking on the challenge to record his first song at his cousin's home studio. Since age 14, Yhaki has been working on mastering his craft, allowing him to contribute a refined flow and intricate wordplay's making the group WhynVy complete.
WhYnVy, discovered by Stage Frite Music Group ("SFMG"), an Atlanta based independent record label recognized that "Vanz and Yhaki" distinc sound complimented each other, and together they could make chart topping music. Thus the capitalized Y in the group name stands for "Yhaki", the V stands for "Vanz" and WhYnVy signifies two young men on the grind representing their love for music.
Currently, Yhaki and Vanz are in the studio working on thier first group album; one of the most anticipated duo projects since Andre 3000 and Big Boi. Together their life experiences, background, and proven ability to embody the artistry of Hip Hop translates into a bright future. Their musical style and chemistry is authentic and powerful. The album single "Stuntin On Em" is quickly attracting a massive buzz and Vanz and Yhaki are well on their way to becoming a household name.
