Bio
Why Twist the HairBostons seminal pop/alternative rock bandwas ignited from the fuel of friendship in the spring of 2004. Soon after their freshman efforts, pianist Nick Siemaska and guitarist Peter Allen decided to move to Kansas City and hone their eccentric brand of songwriting. They spent that summer in a slum on the southern half, scraping for survival as housekeepers at a cheap motel, and thriving on undercooked rice with stolen soy sauce. For sake of economy Nick pawned his piano and began restlessly hammering out electrified pop introspections of alienation and depravity. After three months of disappointment they decided to move back to Boston. Hopeless in the prospect of finding a bassist, Peter fried his inhibitions in a three-day acid binge and volunteered to fill the slot himself. In October they met John Lazarus, drum set extraordinaire, at an underground burlesque show in lower Allston. The trinity was set. Their debut EP, Poster of a Ball, was produced in Nicks bathroom and released in early February 2005.
